hey guys,

Im looking into the MISSION line of speakers. They look to have some nice stuff thats not too expensive. Does anyone have a pair of missions they can recommend?

I was looking into the m70 series or the 77 series.

I cant seem to find a website that sells them all so I can compare prices. The Mission website doesnt have MSRP's.

Can someone maybe hint at how much better the 77 series is than the m70, if its better at all? Also, whats a good price to pay for the 775e's, or the 77c1 center. Or maybe even the m74 and that center channel.

Im just searching around, looking to upgrade, and I cant seem to find any place that will compare the missions with prices, and has reviews.

thanks in advance

I can't say much about their current line, but I have a pair of Mission 762 speakers that I bought in the late 80's that I still use with my NAD receiver with my "upstairs" TV (not my home theater setup, which is downstairs ;) )

For going on 15+ years old, and being used a LOT when I was younger (and at HIGH heavy metal and hard rock volumes!) they have held up remarkably well! I still think they sound great - so I can personally vouch for their durability!

Hi:

Saw your note and wanted to respond since I've had a Mission home theatre system for about a year now.

My fronts are 773e's
Rears are 77ds bipole surrounds
Center is a 77c1
Subwoofer is a Definitive Technologies ProSub 100
Receiver is a Denon 2801
DVD player is a Toshiba 3750 progressive scan
Television is Panasonic 47wx49 rear projection widescreen.

I can tell you without any reservations that the Missions are incredible speakers. Made in Britain but owned by Denon they are beautifully made (I have the Rosewood 777e's). I use my speakers mainly for music and they sound beautiful. However, you must pair them with a good subwoofer, since the 773e's only have 2-8" mid/woofers.

The sound imaging on them is absolutely spacious and almost surround-like by themselves if they are paired with a good receiver or amp. Very musical but just as great for home theatre

The 77c1 is an exceptional center channel speaker that puts out crystal clear dialogue in home theatre mode.

The 77ds surrounds are probably the best bargain in surrounds right now since they are bi-poles. Not really made for music, but rather for providing the all important rear channels for DD 5.1 and DTS. Just amazing what they can do if set up correctly.

All in all, I absolutely love my Missions and have been astounded by their sound!
