I don't have any personal experience with the player, but according to http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php, the DVP-F5 can play CDRs and CDRWs. You can look up the playability of any DVD player you want there.

Oh, and here's a review for the player if that's any help:

I have this unit and it reads vcd's that I've burned to cd-r just fine.

It uses a dual laser system so it should read cd-rw as well.

I bought it because it's portable enough to put in a backpack. For what I use it for it's great. I would say this player is good enough to be my only dvd player. I have used it with high end headphones and can say the audio playback is excellent. Picture quality is at least as good as my other two players (only comparing the composite not s-video though it does include it).

My only gripes:
Because of it's small size the screen on the unit is hard to read, and the remote could use some backlighting or the keys could glow in the dark. My last gripe is that on vcd's/cd's it can be a little noisy on the first ten minutes or so of the disc. (You can hear the this constant noise which is the head tracking along the beginning of the disc). If I'm more then 5 feet away I can't even hear it, but because it's there I listen for it and it can be annoying.
