View Full Version : Price drop on GBA Games?

Is there going to be a price drop on all the GBA games?

It seems to me that after GBA dropped to $79.99, many stores have GBA games on sales, such as KB Toys and EBGames (Castlevania, Frogger, and etc. 19.99)

The thing is, now I am not sure if I should buy any GBA games or if I should wait for a little longer. Of course, I can always price match later, but I just wonder if there will be a price drop soon.

Also, Sonic Advance is selling for $29.99 in Circuit City. I wonder if this means a $10 off on all GBA games soon?

I'm not sure if Best Buy is taking a loss, but Mario World will supposedly be on sale for $22.99 at launch (as per the Best Buy thread in the DVD Bargains forum).

Add to that the $5 coupon from EGM if you have one (I'm really glad I have this free subscription :)) and you can grab it for $18 plus tacks. Best Buy is also selling Sonic for $30.

Target has often sold first-party games for $25.88, and this is the first time I'm aware of a game selling for 23 at launch. I'm unsure as to how much of a profit retailers make, but it seems to me (and I'm by no means an expert in marketing) that there will be a gradual drop in GBA Game prices if this trend continues.

Just one note - from what I've seen, the prices rise a little after launch and remain constant until they reach a point at which the popularity of the game wanes and the shelf space could be better used for something else.

Didn't the price drop down to $69.99? At least that's what I paid on eToys.com, plus I used the $10 coupon that was emailed to me for joining their mailing list.

A few weeks ago, IGN Pocket announced that Nintendo found new ways to manufacture the GBA games, thereby lowering costs. It said that games should become cheaper starting in the new year.

And here we are. :)

Yes, most of the places are selling GBA for $69.99, but $79.99 is the official MSRP.

When picking up Sonic at Toys R Us on Tuesday, I noticed all the Midway games (Williams Arcade Classics, Rampage puzzle..) were priced at $19 and I don't think it was a sale.

Cheaper GBA games are a must, it's just a crime to pay $39 for a new GBA game.

RCL66, I hope you have realized that Sonic Advance is selling for $29.99 in Circuit City. If not, it is still not too late to price match with them.

Thanks, I did realize it was on sale.. Picked it up as Toys R US and had the C.City ad with me to get the price match. Not bad, didn't have to wait till Circuity City gets in stock tomorrow either.

Thanks for the heads up though.

Yep, just like before the MSRP was $99.99 but most stores (especially discount retailers like wal-mart) were selling it for $89.99.

ToysRUs was selling GBA for $99.99 (MSRP) before, so I was kind of surprised to see them selling GBA for $69.99 now instead of $79.99.

The only place I see GBA for $79.99 is KB Toys B&M.

I was in Target last night and most of the GBA games were reduced to $29.99 and many of the GBC games were now $19.99, so there is indeed an effort to lower the game prices. I'm hoping to get out this weekend and see if any other retailers are also lowering GBA game prices.
