I miss PC Accelerator Magazine.

Just thought I'd share.

Prolly the best bit of Video Game literature to be in print.
(and you can't go wrong with a "Babe" section in the back)

I loved the article about death in games. They took 13 different deaths in games and described what would happen in real life. Pretty sick...but cool.

It was a good mag. The Maxim of gaming. I think it's influence really adjusted other gaming magazines like PCGamer and others where humor and sometimes adult references take a bigger focus than say, 5 years ago.

I remember that issue.

I still have a wrapped copy of the last issue. And an open one for my enjoyment. Ahh... I PCXL... How I love thee.

Hands down the best written magazine I've ever read. Not just the best PC Game magazine, but the best magazine. I almost cried when I heard they were going away. I got my issue saying bye bye and I immediately called my brother in law to tell him - he already knew, but we sat on the phone for a few minutes consoling each other. Then to pour salt into the wound, the publisher dumps PCXL and creates Maximum Linux. Ugh... like there's not enough resources for linux already? ... grr... I'm still mad... I need to go lie down.

Which is ironic...I think the editor of PC gamer was the editor of PCXL.

Yeah, PCXL was the greatest.

They really were somewhat better in their first few issues than their last few though.

I was rolling when they used to have the little sections describing their conversations with different customer service reps...they called an exterminator to complain about all the rats and fire beetles in Everquest.

Seeing what I've written, I guess you just had to be there

I also liked how they had the A$$ Olympics for the worst games.

I nearly cried when I got the 'black' issue of PCXL.

I liked PCXL as a mag, but disliked how the editors slammed readers who disagreed with their point of view.

I think ultimately their demise was due to the contents offended too many parents, and the publisher just didn't want to take the heat anymore.

There was a big fuss about how some readers took one of the magazine's jokes too far and actualy ran a DNS attack on some companies server. suposedly "The magazine told them too". There was some big fuss over it before the magazine died.

Or something like that. My memory is on vacation tonight.
