REVIEW WANTED: Full Metal Jacket Collectors Edition

Can anybody give me a review of this? Is the audio/video the same as the remastered version? What kind of extras? Worth the price?

I love this movie, but like you, I want a review on it.

Let's cross our fingers and hope someone has it.

I was curious too after seeing this thread, although the description of the set at amazon gave me pause:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...819761-1190415

If it's true about the full frame, then this set has the old version of the movie. Also probably explains why so many of these sets are still available out there.

Not so fast. Kubrick filmed virtually all of his films in Academy ratio (1.33-1 -- 1.37-1) and then matted them for theaters. The laserdisk has this matted version (1.85-1), and the DVD has the unmatted version. So, it is the correct version. If you want to see this in widescreen, go buy a piece of black posterboard and tape it on your tv.

Exact same disc as the remaster + the soundtrack CD in a big box with a "collectible booklet" or some such nonsense...

yes, with this bunch, you better be prepared before making a comment about kubrick and aspect ratios.
