GTA3 Army Question

Ok, my friend and I both have a copy of the game. I bought mine the day it was released and he got his copy in December. When we are playing his game we can not get the army on the third island to come out. We can destroy everything, kill FBI, etc. and nothing happens. We even used the raise wanted level cheat. Does anyone else know something about this? Did they censor out the army or is it a defect?

The army will come, it just takes a while.

I did the armored car decoy mission and the army came.

I blew up the car and failed the mission, but my wanted level stayed high. I was on foot and I saw the tank coming. I shot it 3 times with the rocket launcher, but still it killed me.

Yeah have to get to a certain point in the missions before you can have the army come.

Well, this seems right because we dtermined its saved games. We loaded my saved game off my memory card and we got the army easily. And we loaded his saved game and we could not get them. At what point in the game does the army unlock?

Just noticed it one day not really sure when it happened.

I think the army unlocks after you fly the Dodo and talk to Don Love (? because I haven't gotten there yet).

You have to pass the "Grand Theft Aero" mission for Donald Love. Then out comes the Army!
