? Xbr400 Guncon2
Anyone here have last years model Sony XBR400 in any size and played Time Crisis 2 or Vampire Night using the new Guncon 2 on PS2? I have posted this in many forums but can not seem to find people with an answer. I have heard that is doesn't work with this set and that it will work with this set. I currently do not have a PS2 but plan on getting one. I love light gun games in the arcade and would really like to get this one.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, I can tell you that I cannot use the Guncon 2 (nor any light gun, for that matter), with my Wega XBR450. It's extremely frustrating, and I assume it has something to do with the TV being HDTV compatible. Can someone else here shed some light? Right now I'm relegated to playing my gun games on my 20" in the bedroom

I have heard that you have a TV (direct view or RP) with any kind of built-in line doubling/quadrupling (which the Sony HDTV compatible TV's like yours do) you will not be able to get any Light Gun games to work with it unless you have the ability to turn line doubling off.

As others have mentioned, the guncon is designed to work with standard televisions. They rely on synching with the television signal so any device or feature of your TV that changes the way that signal is displayed on your TV will cause the guncon to not work.
Many new high-end TV's like the Sony XBR's are HD capable. They will "upconvert" regular video to make it look better on the screen. Unfortunately, it's this type of processing that screws up the guncon. Look in your manual to see if there's any way to disable this processing (I think Sony calls their version of it DRC or something like that) for the input you are using for the guncon.
If it's not in the standard manual, there may be something you can do in the service menu, but that's something that's supposed to be only available for service technicians. You should be able to find information about the service menu by searching for the key words "xbr400 service menu" on your usual search sites.
