Recommendations for cheaper widescreen TV?

I think my next purchase will be a widescreen TV, any suggestions on the cheapest ones available, still with quality?
I stopped in circuit city and drooled all over a Sony HDTV 51" widescreen, but I don't think that's happening soon.

Toshiba makes a nice 40" and Panasonic makes a nice 47 inch, both of which can be had for much less then $2000. For $2200 you can step all the way up to the 57" Toshiba unit. That's the price a co-worker of mine got from onecall.

We bought the 47" Panasonic about six weeks ago and are *very* happy with it. I've seen some posts indicating it can be had for around $1500...check out the forums at www.panny.tv for some suggestions on where to get price matching and what not. And since the set is HDTV ready, you can just add a HD receiver whenever the cost of those becomes low enough that it seems worthwhile to you.
