SSX:Tricky or Tony Hawk 3

I've played TH 1 & 2 and loved them...but I am also interested in SSX, which I have not played.

What are your thoughts? Gameplay, replayabiliy, fun anything...
This will be for the cube.

Thanks.

I have loved Tony Hawk for ever, if you did as well keep w/ Tony Hawk, unless you want a change and try something else go w/ SSX.

I'd pick SSX, but I have one problem with it...

The first round, I win pretty easily.
The second round, it gets more challenging, but is still fun.
The thrid round, everybody moves a lot faster and I'm lucky to not get last place!

It's really annoying and frustrating. I don't mind hard games, but that's nuts.

Does SSX have good replay value like Tony Hawk does?

Are there objectives and things like that to pass? I have no idea...

I enjoy it 10000000% more than Tony Hawk.

SSX has TONS of replay value! It's a great game (at least on Gamecube) just broke 400,000 on the first level...

I can't believe so many people voted for SSX Tricky. I'm not saying SSX is bad, it's just that Tony is so freaking awesome. It's been a long time since I enjoyed a game this much for this long.

Tony definitely...I've beaten it almost 10 times and I still play it a lot. I can beat it in 2 hours now....not getting everything of course. Plus it gives you bonuses for beating it over and over, like new levels and characters and even tricks.

I like THPS2 better than 3, but 3 is still pretty decent. SSX is ok

Thanks guys...I picked up THPS3 last night, and it's awesome. I love it!

I'll try to rent SSX one of these days to see if I should pick it up too...but Tony is awesome.... just got a bronze on RIO.... and helped the thin man get into his house in suburbia.... this game rocks!

I think it really depends on how much you want a trick system in your game. The way I view it is, THPS requires a lot more skill and depth to take advantage of the trick system which is a bit more complex. If you are heavily into trick based games, then by all means get THPS3. SSX Tricky to me is more of a nice blend between racing and some emphasis on tricks but not a complete emphasis like THPS3. The trick system to me seems easier to pick up and to use than THPS3. So if you just want to screw around with some tricks but are worried about the complexity, then maybe SSX Tricky is more suited for you. I've just never gotten into the heavy emphasis on trick based games, which is why I prefer SSX Tricky to THPS3, but that by no means says that THPS3 is any less of a game. I'm getting more into THPS3 thanks to the GBA version which has eased me into the gameplay more, but at the moment I still prefer the nice blend of racing with some usage of tricks that is in the design of SSX Tricky.

There will be... for now Xbox only had THPS 2X which contains the first one, the second one and a new mini career mode made exclusively for the X-box - it's like 5 or 6 parks I think.

Tony Hawk 3 is amazing and I've played it through Career mode 10 times. A great time killer.

For starters, I find that the SSX characters have more personality than the licensed skaters in THPS. If I cared about skateboarding, maybe I'd feel different, but I don't. Second, SSX blows THPS out in the visuals department. I really like the exploding fireworks and the sense of speed in SSX.

Also, THPS is just not terribly exciting. Especially with the new revert, getting a high score is mostly just a matter of connecting different grinds with manuals and reverts. Getting massive air off of mountainsides and doing quadruple flips in SSX Tricky is a lot more fun, if you ask me.
