Complicated TiVo/TV question

I just got a TiVo and got it hooked up. I have an older Magnavox TV. To view a DVD, I have always had to hit a button on my television called "Display." After hitting display, it brings up options like color, tint, etc. Also it brings up an input button. It is normally set on antenna to view my cable and I switch it to VCR/AUX to view a DVD and now TiVo. My big problem besides a big hassle is that I can not view TiVo while it is set on antenna. My remote control also will not control this. Is there some type of cable can get to fix this so I wil not switch this. Please help with this issue.

Do you have your cable running into the Tivo, and then into the TV, with the DVD player on the TV's other input? Try that.

Thanks. I think that would work, but I'm using a splitter so I can watch one show and record another. Any other ideas?

Either get an aftermarket switcher, or a newer TV with an easier way to switch inputs.

Thanks Randy. Getting a new TV is an option I'm looking at. Forgive the ignorance, but what is an aftermarket switcher?
