New Apex DVD-Audio/SACD player

Just read in the Feb 2002 issue of Stereophile Guide to Home Theater that arrived today that Apex has a new player, AD-7701, that plays both DVD-Audio and SACD.
Also plays CDR/CDRW, MP3 and has progressive scan.
Cost = $349.95

Not making a recommendation since I'm not familiar with Apex equipment, but thought it was interesting that we are beginning to see dual format players show up in a price-range more of us can afford.

I'd caution anyone before they run out and buy this unit. I have no qualm with Apex, I think they make good, inexpensive players.

There has been a lot of griping about them on the Apex Digital website forums, www.apexdigitalinc.com and it looks like they're going to have to do a firmware upgrade to them.
