Why are all XBOX in-store demos broken?

In the past week or so I have seen multiple XBOX demos that are not working. The game will just be frozen on the screen and no amount of button pushing will get it to unfreeze. I have overheard several people laughing about it and wondering if that is a sign that they shouldn't buy it. I don't own and XBOX and probably never will since I am happy with my PS2, but they should at least make sure their demo systems work! Has anybody else seen this?

I've seen a bunch turned off, but sometimes I think the stores turn them off just to minimize the traffic.

Same here. I have NOT seen one broken kiosk.

I've heard that many of the early kiosks were NOT production models of the xbox. They were preproduction machines.

I personally have not had any problems with my xbox.

Most of the ones I've seen were turned off because the store is too small to have someone standing in the way during Christmas season. Speaking of, I wonder if business at Electronic's Boutique has been affected by the size of their stores. The ones I've frequented in the past have all closed down and reopened in a different location in a much smaller store. Sure, they think it helps reduce shrink because there's less square footage to keep an eye on, it's a cheaper lease, and you sometimes need less employees working at a time to keep things going. But I hate going there during this time of year. I had to slip past people playing the video game demos just to get through to see what kind of Dreamcast stuff they had. It was so crowded that I gave up. I miss the roomier stores.

I've heard of people running Xbox for hours with no effect? Why would only the demos break? Has anyone had any problems with thier home Xbox?
