XBOX and DTS DVD's

I just bought an XBOX this week but have not opened it. Does anybody know if plays DTS DVD's? I would like the XBOX to take the place of my Pioneer DV-414 so if it does I think I'd be upgrading my quality of playback. Thanks!!!

It has the option to turn on DTS and Dolby Digital so I would guess so . I haven't used mine for DVDs yet but it does have the option for DTS or DD .

The Pioneer DV-414 only has DTS outs, meaning if you dont have the deencoder in your receiver your not getting it now. The DTS capable players alone wont give you DTS sound. Thats why you should always get the best receiver you can, its the heart of your home theater/entertainment center.

Oh I have a Pioneer VSX-D608, it does support DTS decorder. So if the XBOX does have the option to turn on DTS and Dolby Digital, I could be in business.

Youre set. I thought by the phrasing you might not have a good reciever, my mistake. You asked if it would play DTS DVDs. It will but that doesnt necissarily mean youre getting DTS sound. I think the DVD industry likes being vague when selling players. They plaster the DTS logo on players that are only DTS capable. Somewhat misleading.

You will need either the Advance A/V pack or the HD A/V pack for digital out. Both cost $20.
