You know, it's true that the people who bid on this are idiots who will probably be dead within the year due to natural selection, but I do think ebay needs to close auctions like this down.

lol! But you know the saying............never underestimate the power of stupid people.

They must have some kind of secret agenda we are all missing out on.....I mean.... the box is going for more than the system. You see? We've seen this before, we all said how stupid it is. But then it returns once again and the people bid on it. If we knew the secret these bidders do, we would have all the answers right here in front of us. We would be the true selected and not the selected against! Its all starting to make sense now, It is not the console that brings us happiness but the box. Does it not make sense? When you go to the store whats the first thing you see? The box!! And when you see the box how do you feel? Pretty good eh? Am I right? Of course, everyone likes to see the box, I've never seen anyone who was disappointed seeing it at the store. When you bring it home you admire the box before taking the console out. You might also examine the pictures on the box of the different games and peruse the literature printed on the back. You probably even keep the box in safe keeping after you take the console out. We are all guilty of this and do not yet even realize it! So are these people really stupid or do they know something we don't?? To illustrate this point lets take a further look:

box (bks)
n.

a. A container typically constructed with four sides perpendicular to the base and often having a lid or cover.
b.The amount or quantity that such a container can hold.
c. A square or rectangle: Draw a box around your answer.
www.dictionary.com

This is precisely what I was talking about. "draw a box around your answer" that is the clue we've all been missing. And "four sites perpendicular to the base" are the directions to the answer we have all been seeiking. If we knew the answer, we would be bidding on the box as well!!

So in the end...Its all about the box....wow what a revalation. Who would have thought, thats all for your lesson today.

Note that of course the winning bidder is stupid for not paying attention, but the seller is undoubtedly involved in shilling activity to both drive up the price and make the auction look legit. Take a look at the bid history and draw your own conclusions...

It looks like more of these "box" auctions are popping up now. Check out this guy trying to sell his Gamecube box:

http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1309974133

More people trying to take advantage of the stupid bidders on ebay.

Sheesh...and then he has the nerve to say "Do not bid if you have NEGATIVE, or NO positive feedback."

Some E-bay people are just full of Christmas Spirit aren't they. I don't understand how people have the heart to rip someone off like this.

Shipping is $6.00. It better not arrive damaged or the buyer may return it.

If the seller really wanted to get a way with this he shouldn't accept paypal. M.O. only.

Looks like ebay pulled the original one for the X-box box. Item is no longer in their database.

I guess I don't get it. It was rather clear in the description that it was only the box. Why would someone bid on this? Do people really not read the description when they are bidding over $300 on something?

Well, I was bored this morning (since I had the day off from work) so I looked at listing policies on ebay and "Misleading listing titles" are against ebay rules. So if auctions like this get reported they should get shut down. So I reported the gamecube box one, and I'll see if ebay takes action.

Not that I'm defending these bozos or anything - but it is all about the context. I've seen old atari 2600 boxes up for sale on eBay before (both the console and the cart boxes). When you get right down to it - what is the diffrence, really.

Sure, 20 years seperates the two - one could almost consider the 2600 box to be a collectors item. However, the 2600 boxes are not all THAT rare - I've got several myself.

Of course - I wouldnt pony up 50 bucks for an atari box either (well - perhaps one of the super-rare ones, crazy climber or something).

Oh well - to each his own.
