Suggestions for microphone please
I am looking for buying a microphone for singing and looking for suggestions. The budget is around $75 - $125. Also what to look for in a microphone?
I am not even sure if there are 'musical' microphones vs. 'pa' microphones?!
Thanks in advance,
Suharsh

You want a Shure SM58, best mic for your price range. It is an industry workhorse and I have never met a sound guy/band that didn't have at least a couple of them in their gear.
It's an excellent mic for vocals as well as instrument. In a vocal mic you want to look for a midrange frequency response(around 45/50Hz to 15K/20Hz).
$99 from Musicians Friend and you might be able to find it a little cheaper. Check it out here

both the SM57 and SM58 are great mics.
for vocals, i'd go with the SM58
I always used SM57's to mic my drum kit when I was playing actively (except the bass drums, for which I used the AKG D117)

Thanks a lot to all. I ended up buying the SM58S from Musiciansfriend.com. However I learnt two things while looking for the microphone - the one for ~$99 was without the on off switch, also it didn't come with cable. The one with the on/off switch was for $139.99. I price matched it with etronics.com where it was for 109.99.
I am looking forward to it. Thanks again.
