Onkyo 595 ....
I have couple of questions about Onkyo 595.
1) I have Onkyo 595 and connected a DVD player to this via S-video and VCR via RCA video input. When I am connecting receiver to a TV, I am connecting through S-Video. As I am not connecting my VCR via s-video, do I need to connect my RCA video “out” also to TV along with S-video?
2) How is Onkyo’s phone support?

Ok, here's the answers:
1.) Yes, you have to use a composite (RCA) out to connect to your TV to use your VCR. The S-video on the 595 is switched S-video meaning that you can just use one S-video output and switch among several S-video inputs. It doesn't mean it will convert composite in to S-video out.
2.) I have never had to contact Onkyo support so I can't really answer this, I've used Onkyo products for quite some time and never had anything that needed calling about.
Hope this helps.

If you want to simplify things, you can get a compsite-to-svideo adapter at Radio Shack for about $20. It's about the size of a lipstick. It won't improve the picture quality coming out of your VCR, but it will allow you to connect it to your receiver's s-video input. You can then have just the single s-video cable running to your TV.
This is what I've been using and it works perfectly.
