I'm sorry, they could have been playing "Cowboys and Indians"....or not playing anything at all for that matter. The poor child is dead because his father doesn't know how to secure a weapon safely in his home.

As the other guys said, the video game didn't kill the kid, the gun did. It's the parents fault for not having the gun locked up, hell he shouldn't have had the gun in the first place, but that's a different debate for a different thread.
At any rate this isn't a major election year so I doubt we will hear much about it.

The parents are at fault for not securing the loaded gun. Their children definitely should NOT have access to a loaded firearm. Also, children should be taught by their parents to not play with such a lethal weapon.

I played Doom, i played MGS, i played half life, i played Mortal kombat, and i've yet to kill anyone.
It's a cop-out. Like someone said before. Guncontrol and questionable parenting are the only influences here.

I guess it is just easier to blame video games than the parents. Video games are very easy to blame because they are violent, and the parents don't want to blame themselves, so they blame it on something that has almost nothing to do with it. The YOUNG kid took the gun from the bookshelf, and the older brother tried to take the gun away. It's a sad, sad world...

At least the article doesn't technically blame it on the video game and how they inspire violence, the kid himself blamed it on a video game. Besides, what kind of person with kids that age leaves a loaded gun in the house. I wonder if any parent was ever successfull in leaving a gun unattended and their kids didn't find it. I am not against owning firearms, but I can garantee that if I had kids and owned a gun, I would get rid of it.
This will start another Ban video game violence story when it should be about teaching firearm safety. This story isn't over though, the parents will be charged with criminal negligence at some point during the investigation. Perhaps the father left a round in the chamber without knowing it was there... but either way, it means that at some point, the weapon was readied by someone to fire which leads to other questions about its use.
