100" TV!?! Believe it or Not!, Should I?

You ever seen those people on eBay that sell the kits to make your tv into a 100" projection tv? If you want to see a prime example of it go to http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1304993015 Well I was wondering, do they work? If anyone has tried it, could you tell me what the quality is like? Does it flip the image so that if something was on the right of the screen itd appear on the left after being projected? This is something Id consider for my basement so I could just sit and stare for hours. Just any opinions and thoughts would be appreciated. Later guys. Matt

Big big big waste of money. All these kits do is tell you how to make a lens system to place in front of your existing television, transforming it into your new 100 in. projector.

Look at the brightness from your current set and you will see the problem. Your set does not have enough output from its CRT to make an image that would even be remotely watchable. Save your money on this scam.

Hello,
Well I was able to find a site that has instructions on how to do it for free, www.bstvcentral.b0x.com. I realize that it must be viewed with in the dark and that the quality of picture will go down. Maybe Id sacrifice that for a a huge picture however. Id be doing this in a basement that is lightproof. We sealed it off years ago when we were doing some photography work. Anyone else have any opinions? Thanks. Matt

Try to build one yourself and let us know what you think. The directions are free so what do you have to lose?

Remember standard TV is not that great of quality to begin with, and then you are sacrificing even more quality and will have a pale, washed out picture.
