Best TV for about 800$

I want to buy a good tv set for about that price. What should I buy if I want a great picture quality? Would the 27' Wega from Sony be the best choice? Sound doesn't really matters ;)...

If you look-around you can find the Samsung Tantus 27" HDTV for around that price. 4:3 but at least it can display 480p/1080i.

we got a sony 35" Trinitron for 899....we were going for the toshiba 36, but this looked so much nicer for the extra 100...was worth it. No component jacks though, but doesnt matter too much withought flatscreen HD anyways.

You can get a 32" Wega for that price at Sears if you Pricematch. Atleast I did this summer. Well worth my money and I think they have a deal now that you don't have to pay til November 2002. Mine was only good til January 2002 so I just paid it off yesterday. This model doesn't come with PIP though. Just throwing out some more options!

I'm not sure why anyone would consider anything less than a TV that can do 480p at this point. Just for DVD watching alone it's worth it, not to mention HDTV.

If you look aroun a bit, you can find older, big monitors like the Princeton AV2.7 for under $700. It's 27" and can do 480p/1080i. The only thing is many presentation displays don't have built in tv-tuners, but you can always use your VCR.

There are bigger presentation monitors too, and the price difference is negligable when compared to a normal tv.

I got the Toshiba 36A60 and love it. DVD with component cables is awesome. Like watching DVDs on your monitor. The sound from the TV is really good. Nice TV to hold you over until all this HDTV mess is straightened out (more channels that support it, better features and fine tuning).
