Tivo w/ Cable Descramblers?

Interested in getting a TiVo or Replay this Xmas...

But I'm currently using the ViewMaster 4000 cable descrambler....
I'm assuming that they are not compatible since they're using different tuners.... (doubt the Tivo would be able to change channels using the VM4000)

Am I wrong? Or is there some way around this... or can you just not steal cable (which I don't since I only watch the channels I pay for Mr. AT&T) and use Tivo.

I assume I could record all basic cable programs and just watch the premium in real time if I hook the Tivo into the VM4000.

The trick is to figure out what major type of cable box your descrambler is the most similar to. TiVo has several dozen kinds of major cable box controller codes in it's database and should be able to handle most descrambler boxes. It worked fine with my old Paragon box...

I really don't know much more other than that, though. So good luck
