311 and Oingo Boingo DVDs...any comments?

I saw that 311 supposedly has two DVDs coming out in December (Enlarged to Show Detail I and II). Anyone with more details on these? Do they have the same content, or is one an SE? Any info would be helpful.

Also, I noticed Oingo Boingo has their final concert available on a two disc set. Anyone have this? Is it a worthy purchase? I used to be a HUGE Boingo fan and would love to see the footage, but does it have any replay value?

On a final note, you owners of music DVDs, do you prefer the videos or the live performance discs?

We had a thread about the Oingo Boingo DVD a little while ago. The story is that the picture looks terrible, no better than VHS and the sound is 2.0 stereo, so if you have the VHS version, there's not any reason to get the DVD. I passed on it, even though I went to the show and it would make a cool memento of the evening.

As far as concert vs video collection, I would almost always say concert. In my experience, nothing becomes dated faster than music videos; and concerts are usually more fun and less embarassing to watch. My one favorite video collection is George Michael, it has a very interesting hour long interview and I could watch that Freedom '90 video about a million times (supermodels ).

I found some answers to my own question concerning the 311 EtSD II disc (I'm guessing I is very similar):

*Contains a free bonus CD of 4 unreleased songs.
*Features hit videos, live performances, interviews with the band, crew & fans and rare behind-the-scenes footage of the From Chaos tour in the U.S. & Japan.

*Live concert footage includes: "Come Original," "Beautiful Disaster," "Freeze Time," "Feels So Good," "What Was I Thinking," and "Psycho" (with Shaq).

*Videos include: "Transistor," "Prisoner," "Come Original," "Flowing," "You Wouldn't Believe" and "I'll Be Here Awhile."

*Also includes MTV's Making The Video episodes for "Flowing" & "You Wouldn't Believe" and special sections on 3-11 Day 2000, The 311 Milk Challenge & more.

ETSD II is new. ETSD I is new to DVD, it came out a few years ago on VHS. If you love 311, as I do, get it. It has a couple videos, interviews, and some live clips. The only thing that disappointed me about it was that none of the live footage contains a complete song, just clips. When ETSD came out on VHS a few years ago it came with a bonus four song CD (two of the songs were great the others were alright). I don't know if the rerelease will have these songs bundled with it. If you have the From Chaos CD put it in your computer, there are trailers for ETSD and ETSD II, as well as interview clips.

Its good if you missed the show or were there. I was lucky enough to go to the final shows here in L.A. So I of course picked up this dvd as a little momento of the time. besides the fact that I love danny elfman's stuff.

the picture isn't all the great though. but its more then watchable.

Well, I was a Boingo fan...then stopped, for no real reason...(???), saw them ONCE..and man, was it a blast!

I saw the DVD, and sadly, most of the songs were not known to me....what kept me away was that the store was closing, and I DID NOT see 'Weird Science' listed...

I know, not one of Elfman's fave tunes...but it introduced me to OB, and as a send-off show, it would have been nice.

If it HAD been on there, even in video format, I would have bought it.

I may d/l some of the songs I have not heard and if I dig them, buy it anyway (MOST likely!)

As for the quality...screw it, its Boingo....I'll cry in my soup later.
