Onkyo TX-DS595: 5.1 speaker system suggestions..
I'm looking to upgrade my ht speakers (excluding subwoofer), which currently are a hodge-podge of different manufacturers.
I want to get speakers that are a decent match for the Onkyo TX-DS595. I'm not looking to spend much more than 500-600, if possible.
I'd appreciate any input...

So, your budget is $600 for 3 front speakers?

I've got a 595 and I've got a set of Polk speakers hooked up to it. They sound great and image extremely well. The real advantage of buying all your speakers from the same manufacturer is that they'll be timbre matched and will "disappear" into your room. An example setup is below, you could definately get the L/R front and center for less than $600 and revisit your surrounds and sub later when you've got the cash.
L/R Front - Polk RT35I
Center - Polk RT245I
L/R Surround - Polk RT15I
These speakers are very good, the RT245 is a little underpowered for my tastes, but upgrading to the next center may be overkill if you're only planning on spending $600 for the front. Anyway, go to an audio store and try them out and just remember that they'll sound different in your home, so make sure you can return them after testing them there.
Good Luck!

$600 for fronts and a center?
Two PSB Image 2B's and a PSB Image 9C are easily my favorites at that price point. Wonderful sound and a large powerful center channel. The speakers are also easy to drive with a mid-end receiver like the Onkyo 595 (great choice BTW).
Keep a pair of speakers from your old system to use as rears until you want to upgrade again.
