Need help passing in NCAA 2002 PS2

Okay, so I just started playing the PS2 NCAA 2002 game (I've been playing as Colorado State) and for whatever reason, I can't get the hang of passing the ball. Sometimes the ball seems to go right through the receiver's hands, other times the ball is nowhere near the receiver...and I'm doing just about the same thing with every pass. I understand a touch pass is just a touch of the button, and a bullet is done by holding the button down longer, but what else am I missing?

Any tips? Pointers?

I don't think I use it all the time, but if you switch to the receiver and hit triangle (before the ball arrives), the receiver will reach for the ball.

I think you can also change the AI sliders to make passing easier.

A lot depends on whether your quarterback is set or scrambling. Just like in real life it is harder to throw when moving.

Another thing you should try to avoid is pushing the directional button while the pass is being thrown... this can make your QB lead your receiver in the direction you're pushing. Sometimes I'll be scrambling a little bit, and I'll leave the d-button pushed, and it'll push the pass one way.
