I've not seen the original, I caught the remake after my girlfriend wanted me to buy it (and fell asleep!!!)... The next few days I watched it with my grandfather, who lived in Europe at the time. It was very interesting getting some unique commentary from him while watching this mini-series. I'm not a big fan of Alec Baldwin or courtroom dramas but I highly enjoyed this one. I couldn't imagine watching it again so much I would need to buy it.

Bottom line: Unless you're big into WW2 or courtroom dramas it's a renter and

I haven't seen the DVD yet, but I watched the TV version and have to say it was worth it. I guess I'm biased towards those type of movies, but it may be worth the rental.

I saw it on tv too. It was actually pretty good. I'm not a big fan of Alex Baldwin but he does a decent job. The incredible performance here though, is Brian Cox as Reichmarshal Hermann Goering. Powerful, charismatic, manipulative, he exemplifies why German people might have succumbed to the Nazi regime. It's worth seeing this just for him. The surrounding cast are no slouches either: Max Von Sydow, Christopher Plummer, Michael Ironside, and Colm Feore (excellent as Rudolp Hoss) all in smaller roles. This was also interesting to me because it was shot here by a local director, Yves Simoneau. It also had a bunch of local actors that I'm familiar with.
It was a solid tv series. Not sure I'd buy it because it has limited replay value for me but if you're into WWII stuff and courtroom dramas it might be worth a purchase for you.
