I'm kinda disappointed in their scoring systems. I mean there are some pathetic reviews that really throw off the curve.

ie. Halo -- Maxim Online gives it 80% -- Maxim Online???? Since when did they become a gaming authority? Anyhow, the link doesn't even work - ie. it's not available on their site anymore. -- with the blurb meta does have there I'm not sure how it ended up with an 80% either. 5 big gaming sites all gave it 100% -- even more than MGS2 has right now.

DOA3 -- everyone seems to have this odd preconception that fighting games are all about plot. Did SF2 have a plot? How about MK? Barely there in every case -- so why did everyone have such dashed expectations regarding this in DOA3? Again, I personally think it's a flaw in a bunch of the reviews.

Yes, but that isn't exactly the fault of their socring system. I think you're having an issue about the actual *reviews* themselves, which I also don't argue that they are indeed screwy. But since every title that gets reviewed also have been reviewed by Maxim Online, etc., it is fair within the context. Tony Hawk, GTA3 and Metal Gear Solid has definitely been the most highly rated games so far (followed closely by Halo), so their placements seem quite correct to me.

The only iffy thing is that some games have more reviews than others, which of course makes the one with more reviews more reliable than ones with less.
