So what are my chances of buying a non-bundle XBox before Xmas?

I'd like to get an XBox for Christmas, but I'm getting more and more worried that finding one (non-bundled) will be about as easy as finding a Furby a few years back. I know MS has said that they want to ship 100,000 units a week, but I'm not sure how that works out in regards to easy availability. In a couple of weeks should they be relativley easy to find? I asked the guy at Target today and he just kind of laughed so I'm assuming, by that gesture, that I'm SOL that I didn't pre-order. If anyone has any information I would greatly appreciate it.

I would say pretty good as well. I read a quote from a Microsoft exec talking about how Xbox should be flowing into stores at a fairly regular rate.

I asked at a local store today and they told me to check back on Wednesday or Friday as they could get more on either or both days.

Thanks for the information. I wasn't sure how regularly stores would get replenished.

I have heard the same, there should be stock back on the shelves regularly. Good thing too, I wouldn't want anyone to be deprived of such a cool system! I love it!!!

Uh, no. That's completely wrong. I had to go to about 7 stores to find mine.

Anyway, check Best Buy, Target and Wal-Mart. That would be my suggestion. I got mine at Best Buy BTW...

Some places it did sell out. But there are plenty of people on a bunch of different boards that said that there are plenty in stock where they live. It's not in Microsoft's financial interest to keep the number of X-Boxes to a minimum. And they aren't very hard to make.

Sure there are. There was a shipment on Sunday loading up the stores again. There will be another shipment tomorrow, loading up stores for the Biggest Shopping Day of the year.

Well,

Stay away from E/B as I heard they will be BUNDLE Only until at least January 2002. I would guess Wally World, K-Mart, and Target would be your best bet.

It just depends where you live, the Wal-mart here had 28 and put them on sell at midnight and had a few left over that they sold the next day. K-mart had some left on Friday when I was there asking about the GC launch, but I didn't ask how many they had left or had got in to start with. For the GC Wal-mart had 60, sold them all at midnight, and had to turn about 20 people away.

Some places the GC is selling better, some places the X-box sold better. I'd say the GC probably sold more units overall though, as they had a lot (probably twice as many) units in stores for launch than X-box, which is why the GC is still in stores.

I don't think anyone will have much problems finding either system in the coming weeks. They many sell out as it gets close to X-mas, but they'll be on shelves again shortly after.

I just stopped by my local Target where I was told (although not very confidently) that beginning next week they "should" be getting 10-15 a week.

I got mine without a bundle at Walmart. Best Buy doesn't bundle, either.

Try to find the most ghetto neighborhood around your area. Since the poor people can't afford to buy them you may have a better chance of getting one. That's how I got my XBox. Remember to bring a gun with you when you are there to avoid getting mugged or killed. Hehehehehehe

There are Xboxs out there. I've seen some at TRU, and Target as part of a 2nd shipment. MS is putting allot of effort in keeping stores supplied throughout the year. There doing a much better job then Sony did last year.

Got a non-bundle X-Box yesterday at Babbages... My brother walked in right as the UPS guy was delivering them, whipped out his Credit Card and said "I'll take that". All on the first day of actually searching for an X-Box too. Good luck to all still hunting.
