Elmore Leonard Book Thread

How come the Elmore Leonard book thread was moved and the Kevin Smith thread wasn't.

In both cases ViewAskewbian was the second post. Both topics technically don't belong in the Otter forum.

I have no idea why the Kevin Smith thread was not previously moved. It must have slipped through the cracks. We do have to deal with a large number of new threads over there. I have moved it to Movie Talk.

If you feel that a thread is off topic, use the "Report this post..." function and let us know.

What, pray tell, does View posting in either or both threads have to do with anything?

You misunderstood my post...I posted the question about the Elmore Leonard book in the Otters section cause I specifically wanted to hear what the Otters had to say about it.

I brought up View Askew cause his ONLY response to my Leonard post was to say that it was in the wrong forum. Then he went on to contribue many responses to another thread that was also in the "wrong" forum.

I found View to be hypocritically. And furthermore, it wasn't his job to simply write "wrong thread." That's why we have moderators.

The "I wanted to hear what Otters have to say about it" defense has been used many times in the past and those threads have been moved also. Other Forum members are not a demographic that can be polled with off topic posts, sorry. If the question relates specifically to books or any other subject for which we have a dedicated forum, the thread will be moved there as soon as it is discovered by a moderator.

I would have preferred it if View had used "Report this post..." function to let us know it was in the wrong forum. I fail to see what is productive about criticizing another member for mentioning, correctly as it happens, that a thread is in the wrong forum. If you feel that this is discourteous, fine. It is not, however, against any forum rules that I am aware of.

Just found it both discourteous and hypocritical that's all.

Kube,

I moved your thread because it was in the wrong forum.

some other points:
  • I didn't see the thread about Kevin Smith.
  • Neither thread was "reported to a moderator"
  • Your thread happened to be at the top of the page, that is how I saw it.
  • Get Shorty

This was just pointed out to me as I
usually do not venture into this part
of the forum but seeing how my name
was brought up I feel the need to, of
course, respond.

Kube, simply put, I thought I was being
nice, giving you a heads up on the fact
that DVDtalk has a BOOK forum. I saw
that you were a new member and might
not have known that. I was not trying to
be RUDE in this at all.

I have no idea what Kevin Smith thread
you are talking about.

In the future I would appreciate it that, if
you had a something to say about ME
in general, as it appears you do here as your
quirk is not so much about the moving of the
thread but of me being a "hypocrite" as you
put it, PLEASE come to me directly and maybe
we can work something out.

I am not that hard to find.

V

Edited to add: In the future I shall use the
"Report To A Moderator" function. Thank you.

Edited again to add: In re-reading my post
in that thread, yes. . .it could be taken as
rude, if you don't know me. I apologize. I
have also been warned about doing things
such as that and, believe me, I learned my
lesson.

No, you are right. I just
checked the status line and
read "member". . .

Apologies again and thank you Gallant.
