Aliens Vs. Predator 2 - VERY long load times?
Is anyone else experiencing EXTREMELY long load times with Aliens Vs. Predator 2? When first starting the game and when exiting, it loads for several minutes. Like over 3 minutes on each end, which is very long these days. You'd think that would equal faster loading from saves in-game, but nope. Even with quick-load, it takes 30-40 seconds minimum, which again is borderline unacceptable.
I'm running it on a P3-733 with 128 RAM and a 16MB Voodoo3. Over a gig free HD space. Not the greatest system, but it certainly shouldn't do that badly on this game (I set the graphics settings pretty low too). I don't understand why it takes so damn long to load. There's nothing particularly unusual about AVP2 compared to other FPS games. Heck, Deus Ex loaded faster and it had a ton of variables to handle.
Otherwise, it's a very cool game. It really puts the fear into me like few others.

Yes, I'm having the exact same problem
The load times are INSANE!
Which install option did you choose btw? I chose the compact install (750mb's), which may be a factor. But the load times are still really long.
The graphics don't seem any better than the first game either. I showed my friend the game and we were both stating how pathetic the graphics were. Those who think the graphics are good need to pick up games like Max Payne, Halo, or pretty much any other new game.
That being said, I'm still playing the game b/c I love being a predator and killing marines.

I did the full-size install, so I don't think installation type is the main problem. And yeah, the graphics are not the best I've seen. Doesn't seem to be any reason why this game should run so poorly.

Sure there's a reason....the developers half-assed the game, and didn't know what the heck they were doing.
They were probably told to release the game immediately though, and given no time to "optimize" anything.
Whatever, i just recommend that no one buy this game. Just post on the avp2 site that the game IS suck
