I thought it was an intriguing movie highlighted by some solid acting; Jeff Bridges got ROBBED on Oscar night! The DVD offers very good picture and sound and a reasonably positive roster of extras.

No. Dafoe was robbed on Oscar night, so was Joan Allen!

I thought it was bloated and somewhat boring.

Could have been a much better film if they
had done some editing maybe, but as it was
it was just filled with too much crap.

Though viewing the deleted scenes shows that
it could have been even worse. For instance,
there was a scene where the main character's
father dies, which would have served no
use in the story at all, and another scene
is an obvious product placement and nothing more.
Gee, I guess that contract didn't pan out

The ending is really lame too. If they were trying to make a movie that seemed realistic, they totally blew it there...

Seems to me they took the shotgun approach to moviemaking. I wouldn't buy it.

I have to agree with you. This was my 2nd worst movie of 2000 (only Pay It Forward was worse, IMO).

I absolutely love Joan Allen. She was robbed of two Oscars - but they were for Nixon and even more so for The Crucible.

I thought it was a good movie, The ending left alot to be desired. It didn't make a whole lot of sense. I wouldn't dare call it one of the worst movies of the year, however.
