Today's CDs (11/7/01)
I didn't even know this music forum existed, so I missed a few days of Today's CDs. Woe is me.
Dismemberment Plan - "Change"
Fugazi - "The Argument"
John Cale - "Vintage Violence"
Arab Strap - "The Red Thread"
Tom Verlaine - "Tom Verlaine"
So as not to break with the tradition of Today's CDs posters having job troubles, I lost my job last Wednesday. Don't worry - I hated it anyway, and was already looking for a new one.

Today:
All Stones & Beatles & the upcoming McCartney and Jagger solo albums. I am working on a big piece for work about the Beatles and Stones. It's okay. I'll post a link when it goes up.
Job problems:
Well, my job is looking more secure than I thought. But I am very poor still (I haven't bought a CD in two months!). I am looking at getting a second job, which will be tough since I don't get off my current job until 7 p.m.

DVD Talk Platinum Edition
KMFDM - "Angst"
Oysterhead - "The Grand Pecking Order"
David Byrne - "Look into the Eyeball"
Velvet Underground - "White Light/White Heat"
&
"Sing Along with Los Straitjackets"
(I just cannot stop listening to this, it's just so sharp and smooth.)
My own company has been tight with its cashflow, but my position is very secure. The optimal solution is to freelance while staying in my current job, but I don't have the resources nor the will to sit in my office for another 3-4 hours a night (need to use the computers). So a part-time night/weekend job sits in the back of my mind.

listened to
Circulatory System - ST
Jenny Toomey - "Antidote"
K. - "Overnight"
Mike,
Sorry to hear about your job situation. Sounds very similar to mine, except that I wasn't actively looking for another job when I got laid off (even though I was far from satisfied). I can safely say that while it took 3 months, I am now good and bored. Though I am looking forward to seeing Ted Leo and the Pharmacists tonight.
I feel like I'm finally trend-setting for the Today's CDs threads. Unfortunately, I wish people would follow my taste rather than career path. On a related note, there's a very good chance that I'm going to be moving to the Boston are to be close to and take care of my mother. On the balance, I feel lucky to be able to make this move and help out. Of course, I have mixed emotions about moving, and living around Boston. (Not to mention, what will be become of my username?)
