I would like to upgrade my current home theater setup
I only have about $1000 to spend for new front speakers (floor standing speakers if possible)

Check out ubid. They're selling JBL S312, retail $900 speakers for about $260 for the pair, great great deal. I got these and hooked them up and they sound awesome.

What kind of receiver or amp will you be using? Because some nice speakers are hard to drive.

mains: Klipsch RF-3II $580
Center: Klipsch RC-3II $250

$170 left for the rear, you can probably find two Quintets for about $39 each in Ubid. However, the Klipsch RS-3 is a much better match but it cost around $350, hope this help
