I played Gamecube. Who wants to touch me?
Sorry, I had to throw that South Park: BLU reference in there.
But I'm serious. I did in fact play a Japanese Gamecube today for about 15 minutes. The game in the console was Pikmin.
I have been following the devolpments of the Gamecube very closely over the past year, and I can say that Nintendo fans are going to be getting a very good system.
I concentrated mostly on the feel of the controller (what I was more curious about than Pikmin, actually), and it was a little strange getting used to. I guess I'm used my DC controller's feel. This controller was actually comfortable, and my hands fit perfectly around it. Your thumb kind of naturally goes to the big A button, and your index fingers fit snugly into the top triggers.
The triggers were a lot more springy than I expected.
As for Pikmin itself, well...This is a game that I need more time with. It looks good, and controls naturally. It will be one to pick up for sure. I didn't really understand the object of the game, but there is the possiblity for hundreds of these things on screen at once, all doing different actions. Very cool.
I didn't get really enough time with GCN to write comprehensive review, but you'll experience it for yourselves soon enough.
Cheers.

I like the GameCuve controller a lot. For certain types of genres, the controller just flat out makes sense, like racing games and shooters. For other genres, like sports game, how that'll work out is a bit different.

I don't think it would be very easy to play street fighter on the controller. Soul Calibur II?
