I don’t know if this is a hardware forum question or not, but… I heard that Perfect Dark can be played in 5.1 (could be bogus) but I don’t remember seeing an optical cable port or “super-duper co-axial” on my Nintendo 64 (I’m at work and scrutinized so my research capabilities are low).
Plus I have to go through a 4 channel switchbox with my games and DVD player. Do they make switchboxes with 4 optical cable outputs?
I guess my main question is has anyone here set up their N64 consoles for 5.1 and if so, howdja do it?
Thanks for any input.

Nope, it's just Dolby Surround.

Anyone know if the CUBE will be able to do 5.1 (optical or coax)?

I read that, but I thought it was just an option. So there is no optical out, just analog?

Only the X-Box can do 5.1 in actual gameplay right now- however, I've heard that somehow it was made to work for a PS2. But I have no idea where I read this- likely IGN though.

NHL 2002 on the PS2 has full time DTS (it's the only reason I bought an optical cable for my PS2).

correct. EA figured out a way to do DTS on the fly. From what I heard, it was sort of figured out by accident. They are licensing out the technology to game companies, so alot more will take advantage of DTS now.
