That review looks great! It is a must own game for the PS2 and the XBox. I will pick it up when it gets released for the XBox in May.

From IGN:

Last I heard, it was scheduled for a 05/01/02 release date.

The details of the XBox version will probably come after the PS2 version has had at least a month of selling time.

It looks great -- I'll definitely be picking it up by the holiday season. The PS2 and its killer apps are gonna keep me very busy this winter! :)

So many good games coming out for the PS2 (finally!), and this looks to be one of them. The movies I've seen look pretty impressive... I love games that can capture that feeling of SPEED. I picked up three with the TRU deal, and already Half.com-ed two of them for ~$85 total, after Half.com takes its commission. GTA3 for $15? I can deal with that. :)

Best game EVER!!!

I'm only a couple of hours into it, but I can already tell that this is the game that will be talked about for years as one of PS2's best games.

It's just so much fun and so kick-ass.

Here's a review that is pretty much in line with what I think so far:

I've been looking forward to GTA3 for months. I do wish they had ripped off Driver and put in some mini-games, most notably "survival mode", but oh well. :)

In the subway I hit this girl and some afro-wearing dude says that that's no way to treat a lady and starts hitting me. So I grab a bat off of some nearby thug and whack him dead. As I leave the subway, paramedics are rushing by to try to save him and I also hear the sirens of police on their way to arrest me. So I go to the paramedic's ambulence, throw out the driver and car-jack the ambulance and speed off in it before the police arrive - 'tho I end up driving off a bridge and killing myself.

This doesn't always work, but if you correctly approach hookers, they'll get into your car and then if you drive into a secluded alley and park you'll see your car a-rockin'. If you keep goin' at it you can fill up your health! But for each 2 points of healt you gain, you'll lose a dollar - but it's worth it.

This is all just the tip of the iceburg from this incredibly deep and fun game.

Actually, I picked it up last night at Software etc. and only had enough time to play a couple hours before I went to sleep.

I'm at work right now and can't think of anything else but getting back and playing more! It's that good.

I guess I'll have to wait for mine to ship from Amazon.com They have set to ship on the 25th or so. I'm not in any real big hurry becaue my ps2 broke and my new one hasn't arrived from buy.com (thank god for coupons)

I got mine today too, and it is the most fun game I have ever played! The total lack of rules, and the endless ways to cause chaos is fantastic! I've never so much enjoyed stealing a cops car, running him over, then stealing his shotgun and blowing away all th other cops that approach you. This game just kicks ass.

Oh yea, there are gay construction men that say things like "It's fun to stay at the YMCA" or "Come on lover boy" when you bump into them! Then you can bash their heads in! :)

GTA3 is my new favorite PS2 game. I finally stopped playing it after 6 hours straight. I know, I have problems. I kept telling myself, 'just one more time.'

A couple hours later, I still can't turn the damn thing off. This game is highly addicting, to me anyways. But I recommend it for everyone, of all ages. Its a nice wholesome game that the entire family can enjoy.

Does anyone notice any similarities with this city, and the game to some extent, with Midnight Club, another Rockstar game? There are parts of the city the seem lifted right from the earlier game! Also the races where you have to make it from checkpoint to checkpoint are very similar...still a great game, just an interesting observation!

That's because GTA3 uses a modified version of the same game engine as Midnight Club.

BTW, try stealing the bus. It is so much fun to smash into cops with the bus.

I must play this game NOW. Ship it Amazon, ship it today.
For those of you with the game, can you give me some idea of how the graphics are. That was the one area of the IGN reviews where they cited some problems. Does it still look pretty good? (It must be a damn sight better than GTA1 anyways).

graphics are good, i havent seen a problem yet i have been playing it for about a day now.

I picked this game up today at Babbages, believe me this game lives up to the hype --- it exceeds the hype. This game is the most fun you will have playing a video game. The city is enormous, and there are still sections to be unlocked. This game has endless replay value, I will be playing this until GTA 4 comes out. Run to your local store and buy this game.

LOL, we who have the game and love it should post our favorite things that we have done in the game.

My favorite thing that I have done was this:

I ran by this guy on the street and cuffed him on the back of the head. He got mad and punched a mob guy. The mob guy pulled out a gun and started shooting, then all his mob friends came over and started shooting innocent people. An ambulence came, ran over all the mob guys killing them and the paramedics went to work trying to save people. I ran over stole all the money and guns from the dead people, shot both the paramedics, stole the ambulence and got in a high speed chase with the cops. All of which ended up with me blowing up about 10 cop cars and getting beaten to death by an old man as i tried to steal his car. I laughed so hard I was crying!

use the hooker after you are done with her beat her down and get your money back ;) . I played it over a friends house VERY addictging game. Nothing like stealing an ambulance the running over police officers. This is freaky my friend is a cop and he was having a blast car jacking cop cars and turning the shotguns on the cops :D

This game is so, so wrong. It's like some kind of perverse version of driver combined with carmageddon combined with........well, you tell me. I just wasted two paramedics who were attempting to help the pile of bodies i'd just beaten to death with a baseball bat, then stole their ambulance, drove it half a block and rolled it over four times, flipping it into the bay and killing myself as i drowned/burned while trapped inside it. This, of course, as an alternative to my regular mission, which involved driving a stolen cop car around town to round up whores for a party.

Reading all these posts about the things you are doing in the game was enough for me--I set out yesterday to pick up the game. Unfortunately, I couldn't find it anywhere--after checking Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, and Wal-Mart, I gave up (didn't try the other Wal-Mart, K-Mart, or Toys R Us). It seems the game is just way too popular, and it's sold out everywhere.

So I'm thinking my best bet is to order it online. I wanted to use a coupon I have for Amazon, but someone posted and said it wasn't shipping from Amazon for 3 weeks?!? Yikes. My question is--would I be better off ordering it from ebworld or Gamestop, or should I wait for another retail shipment? I know zilch about retail shipments and how often videogames are shipped/stock replenished, so I don't know if I'd be waiting weeks or not. I've never ordered from ebworld or Gamestop--is one considered preferable over the other? I realize I could get responses from both sides, but thought I'd ask anyway.

Thanks,

bmello

Holy s#*%! I had sworn off video game playing after wasting half my life beating the Tomb Raider series on my original Playstation and was actually holding onto that goal, until I happened to walk by a store in the mall yesterday, that had a group of people watching a clerk playing GTA3 behind the counter. After a few minutes of watching him steal Humvees and beat hookers and bag ladies to bloody pulps with a bat, I threw all my resolve out the window and bought the PS2 and the game right there. I'm so glad I did. Maybe it's a sad commentary on our society when you can get such a visceral thrill from ramming a car full of "eses" with your jacked cop car, exchange some vulgarity-laced gunfire with them and then jump into a nearby fish truck, smash them against a wall as they try to get back in the car, jump out and watch as the whole thing explodes, but it's one hell of a fun experience! Even the attention to the detail of damaged vehicles, like an unclosed door flopping back and forth as you take turns or windows cracking when you side swipe someone. Amazing.

Yesterday, I bought a ps2 and gta3, just for gta3. Very much worth it. I got threw like 5 missions and am completely hooked. I ran over a gang member and there was all kinds of ammunition all over the place. This game is what Driver should have been, and even has a crazy taxi mode in it!

yeah, this game ranks really high up there. I got this, nhl 2002 and devil may cry, haven't even cracked the seal off the nhl or dmc. I love running over old people and kicking them until they are dead, and wait till the paramedics come, and when they heal, i run over them again. It's also hilarious to see that the ambulance and the cops other people just to get to you. I was running away from the police one time, and I kept hearing shots going off behind me, and also heard screams of civilians being shot at. I had to pause the game cause I was laughing so hard.

Does anyone know if you are able to actually fly or ride on airplanes at the airport??? I found the little Cessna which does not stay up in the air too long.....that would be very cool if you were able to get on one of the big jumbo jets. With everything you are able to do in this game....I would be very surprised if this option had been left out. :)

Just found the answer to my own question. If you fly off toward the southeast....it is possible to make it back to Portland by air....you can also store the plane in your Staunton garage for later use.

Found this info on IGN.COM :)

Thanks,

I ran into the same problem. When I was at Walmart, the guy at the counter was really "hush-hush" about it and said that all copies were pulled from store shelves due to a ban from the ESRB. I didn't know what he was talking about and shrugged it off. I finally got mine at Media Play and the kid at the counter said the same thing. He said that the ESRB pulled all copies off store shelves because, apparently, there is a mission where you have to "make out" with a prostitute and then beat her to a pulp afterwards and take her money. He also mentioned that the ruling would mean that a more "tamer" version will be released to correct and make the rating from the ESRB. I don't know if that's true, but both Walmart and Media Play employees said the exact same thing. Can anyone confirm this?

That is total B.S. and here's why. The ESRB functions only as a ratings board. They have about as much authority to pull something off the shelves as I do - which is none. They already gave the game it's desereved Mature rating and can't do anything else.

The only reason you're having trouble finding it is because it's an awsome game that's getting exceptional word of mouth and the first shippments are just selling out. There are people I know that are not at all into video games but are getting a PS2 just for this game. That tells you something.

DavePack
10-31-01, 08:29 AM
As I might have mentioned, I got mine at a local Wal-Mart, and the counter girl gave me no indication copies being pulled. She told me that had quite a few copies in stock because they HAVE been enforcing the rating (i.e. turning away a lot of kids under 17), which I think is great news. I complimented her and Wal-Mart for it, and I wish more retailers would do the same.

Pull up alongside her....night time.....beep your horn with the L 3 button and she will come over to your car and get inside. Drive to someplace that is out of the way...stop...car starts rocking.....when finished...she gets out of the car...then you get out and beat the crap out of her for your money back since she was not all that great anyway. :)

I've really been dragging my feet on getting this. Sounds great but it's a "driving" game and I've just bought a ton of games thanks to Amazon and TRU.

Well, I just broke down and got it. If they are pulling it off the shelves that sucks but hopefully I'm getting mine.

If it's a scam to sell more or just BS, then atleast it got me off my butt and made me get the game. I told everyhone at work about this game and only one was offended. A few of them are dying to come over and play it or they want to but a PS2 just for the game. It better be as good as you all say of I'm gonna beat you all with a stick and take your money. :D

I agree...I am not into many "driving" games. This is definitely not a driving game in my opinion. Driving games allow you to do only one thing and that is drive. GTA allows you to do whatever you want to do in a city full of people waiting to be victimized. :)

First turn around and head through the alley down the street from the bank. Grab the star there which will take your wanted level down to 2 stars. Then head over to the paint and spray and pull in. Get your car painted and your wanted level will go to zero. Then go wherever you want. You're not wanted any more.

That's why I wrote it like that. I had made mention earlier that I had started with Crazy Taxi and GT3 when I got my system the other week. I was afraid that any game where you are in a car would be too much.

When I told my wife about this game she HATED it. Thought it was awful. Now she's helping me on missions and laughs when someone files over the hood of my cars.

Great game. My wife does get a bit upset when I start beating folks for no reason so I try not to do it that often. :D

I just spent the last few hours in the wee morning, spent 400,000 on weapons. Then I got in the parking garage so the helicopters can't shoot me down, and sniped out people and had all-out chaos. But I can't figure out how to get to 6 stars, I only got to 5, and I shot down about 13 helicopters and tons of civilians.

Edit: Audio sync problem fixed.

It's a really good game... good use of video. I wish the car crash & tire squealing noises were louder... you can barely hear 'em. As opposed to the radio, which I just wanna turn off. The police chopper sounds AWESOME through a subwoofer... I almost wanted to open my porch door and look up in the sky. :)

The last GTA game I played was the very first one, which I liked. Graphically, this is head and shoulders above it. It's a lot harder to find weapons & stuff in GTA3, which I guess is realistic... in GTA1, you'd just run over crates sitting on the sidewalk, and find pistols and machine guns in them. As far as I can tell, you also have to jump out of your car to pick up stuff (weapons, money) in GTA3, as opposed to just running over them in your car.

But I can't figure out how to get to 6 stars, I only got to 5, and I shot down about 13 helicopters and tons of civilians.

I actually got to 6 stars yesterday, but I'm really not that far into the game (I am trying to complete the "van heist" mission right now). I jacked a hummer, thinking it would go up against the armored car pretty well. It did, but of course, the armored car apparently calls for police backup pretty quickly. I actually got the armored car's damage meter to fill up, and sure enough, the guys bailed. But when I rammed the armored car to do this, I flipped over and caught fire. I was surrounded by tons of cops. I just started running, firing over my shoulder as I ran. Apparently, the resulting explosion of the humvee took out all the cops, and the warrant meter maxxed out at 6 stars! I was summarily blown away seconds later by more cops that came outta nowhere.

I'm going to have to read some of the faqs on this game. There's so much in it that the manual doesn't even touch upon. I found 2 hidden objects (according to the message on the screen, there are 100 to be found!) I ran over what looked like a drug capsule power-up, and my character started moving in drugged-out slo-mo. :)

By the way, I've had an "N" icon on my map for a while now, but it appears like it's way out in the harbor. I can't figure out what it is or how to get to it. So I've just been going on missions dictated by Louie and Joey for now (with the occasional taxi and ambulance missions, of course).

Just for your information, every 10 packages you get gives you a weapon in your garage. But here is the list...

10 Handgun
20 Uzi
30 Grenades
40 Shotgun
50 Armor
60 Molotov Cocktails
70 AK-47
80 Sniper Rifle
90 M-16
100 Rocket Launcher and $1,000,000.00

If anybody has a map detailing where every package is, could you send it my way? mwestep@hotmail.com

Thanks.

You can't get up to 6 stars until you are in the suburban area (the last area). You can only get up to 5 until then I believe (or that is what I read).

I came home from work today to find my wife playing the game. I'm speechless.

A week ago she thought I was demented cause I wanted it, and tonight she was telling me about all the missions she went on and all the goodies she found.

She even was nice enough to snag that really fast car from that showroom on the edge of town and park in in my, or is it our, garage.

I read that too, so I had to have hit a bug in the game--I know 100% it was 6 stars because it was my wife who first noticed it. She said something like "Wow look at your stars" and I looked up and it was maxxed. I've had very similar gameplay experiences since then, but I've never seen it get back up to 6 stars--only 4, as it should. A bug maybe? I don't know. I haven't even gotten beyond Portland yet. It's the first and only quirk I've seen in an otherwise-incredible game.

Now, if I can just complete "van heist" and move on...arrrghh!!!

I don't think they sell a soundtrack (at least not yet), but in the back of the manual, it tells you the artist/song name to each song. I guess just d/l it for now until the soundtrack comes out :).

Thanks to the stupid Riot Code I tried I had to restart my game. I couldn't figure out how to undo the riot and it was impossible to be on the street ANYWHERE with all the gunfire and problems.

Anyway I restarted and I'm past the point I was before. I'm really impressed with the variety of missions so far and I look forward to the other islands. :D

Hope I get there soon.

The first time I did it, I kept switching cars. I had a couple of good trucks (can't remember the name, it was a pickup though). The second time I jacked a semi before I got the mission and did pretty good with that.

Once you start working for the old man that's the head of the family and lives in the house on the hill......you are almost off the island.

So does it seem like there are less cops on the second island or is just cause the place is a bit bigger and they are more spread out?

Got three folks I could work for now and I'm sucking at all three missiosn they have for me. I just turned it off to take a break but I'm guessing I'm going to go right back to it as soon as I finish this..............

Here is a tip for Turismo. First, get the Mafia Sentinel, and when you are ready to race, lightly tap the side of the opponent's car. Instead of the countdown, it will start automatically, thereby leaving you with a huge head start. Also, do not concentrate too much on the opponents racing you, concentrate on the road and the checkpoints, the opponents will drive recklessly toward the end. Good luck.

The best mission is:

The drive-by with the Jamicans. It's funny as hell driving around a station wagon listening to reggae and blasting some gang members!

I never did Turismo. Did I miss out on some good mission with the Lation gang? The second island is tough. Try some of the Jamican gangs missions! (EX: The crazy explosive guys on SPANK.

Whoa, cool I didn't know that! I do try to concentrate on the road, but damn, it's tough by yourself. Maybe when I go hang out with my friend, he'll be able to tell me when to turn and stuff. And guess what's in my garage-Mafia Sentinel! Or maybe it was a cop car. (doh!!)

I finally cleared the Van Heist on Friday night--it took a while, but I did it. I realized there was absolutely no hurry to pick up the van. I jacked a few fresh cars, picked up some stars to clear out my arrest warrant meter, then went back several minutes later and got the van.

I've cleared several other missions since then--I believe I've cleared all the payphone missions (now I've got the Triads taking constant potshots at me thanks to my little flamethrower mission :) ). Right now, I'm stuck on the mission where I'm supposed to take out the Triad laundry trucks. I picked up the grenades from 8-ball's place, but I must be doing something wrong. It's very tough to pin one of those laundry trucks down to the point where I can hit it with a grenade. Usually, I get out, he takes off, and I gotta get back in my car and resume the chase...

This game is absolutely incredible. I played more this past weekend than I've played with any other single videogame in the same time frame in a long, long time. I was a huge fan of Driver, and this--this just takes it to that level I always wanted Driver to be at. Beyond the regular missions, the extra missions with the taxi, fire truck, ambulance, and police car are wonderful. I especially love the Vigilante missions. To smash some guy's car, then pop out and nail him with the shotgun as he runs down the street--pure gaming bliss. :)

I had a Vigilante mission last night where I was chasing this guy in a sports car, which made the chase very difficult. I finally plowed into him in a curve, sending both him and I into several rolls into buildings and pedestrians. He got out, I got out, and a running gun battle ensued. Then, he did something I've never seen before--he jacked my police car! I jacked a nearby cab, and now I'm chasing this wounded jerk trying to get my own police car back in the process! Of course, with the police car being pretty speedy, I couldn't catch him, and my timer ran down. That single Vigilante mission was more fun than some entire games I've played.

You don't have to use grenades to take out the trucks. For example, I slowed down one of them using a Triad truck that I jacked. I hopped out and threw out the driver before he could get started going again. Since I was near water, I drove the truck near the water and hopped out. I got into another car and used it to push the truck into the water.

What I did was jack the Fire Engine that is located by 8-Balls. You can ram the $hit out of the laundry trucks until they explode or pin them in. Once they are pinned, get out and throw a grenade or two. I also used a Mack Truck but the Fire Engine is the toughest vehicle I've had so far!

Thanks for the tip regarding the fire truck and the laundry trucks. I keep forgetting that this game offers so many ways to complete a task! And that's just another great part of this great game--the creativity you have in completing missions.

My wife was driving around (she likes to drive around and crash into things, vs. the missions which are a little too intense for her :) )and wandered into Chinatown, then promptly freaked as the Triads unloaded gunfire at her and started running for her car. She panicked and yelled "Why are they mad, I didn't do anything?" I said "I think they're a little upset by that little flamethrower mission a while back..." :)

Here is my tip for Turismo, do the course once, doesn't matter if you win or loose. Learn the track is the most important part. Then, steal a few cars and set them up so they form a road block (two cars thick should do it). Let your racing challengers go ahead of you, they will all get stuck at the road block you created, if they don't blow themselves up. Get out of the car and throw a grenade or cocktail at them, once they are all gone you are in 1st place. Make your way over the road block you made and steal a car and complete the race at your leasure. ;) it's not "cheating", it's just ingenuity.

Dude that is a good idea. I love the fact that you don't have to follow the basic video game rules with this game. Like the mission with Curly Bob If you jack a cab, you can actually pick him up . I also love the fact that freaking everything is searchable. If you can't get to something, knock down the fence, or steal the truck to the place that works there. One guy on gamefaqs actually posted a screen cap from a hidden area that had a sign that read "You weren't supposed to be able to get here, you know". That's the kind of stuff I'm talking about. Some people say that a good game with have 10 hours of value to it. I've played this game 10 hours in about 4 days and am like 7 percent done. Unbelievable.

Well let's try the spoiler, when you do the first mission for Asuka...

You have to assassinate Salvatore, forget going to Luigi's like they say you should, just go to his house, park both of the cars at the house infront of the garage next to the stairs. That makes it so he can't get into his garage and end the mission. Then when he's stuck just toss a grenade. BOOM

This is all just the tip of the iceburg from this incredibly deep and fun game.

Also, on the first island, in the "Farewell, "Chunky" Lee Chong" mission, the target will run for a getaway car, but you can blow the car up before you trigger him to run away, and then he will run in a straight line, right over a cliff, and die. It makes that mission a lot easier.

And on the first mission on the second island, you can run around chasing your target like a nut, or you can tag him between the eyes with the sniper rifle from on top of a building, right at the beginning.

I got a little pissed cuz I couldn't beat Turismo (I did try everything, including cheating). Well anyway I was messing around with the jump car code and I went to the area near the garage, jumped a fence and apparently landed somewhere where I wasn't supposed to, cuz there was no way out and my car blew up when it landed upside down . So here I am stuck with no way out and I decided to have a little fun. I put on the full armor, health, weapons code, as well as the raise wanted level code (it goes to level 4). Well I put it in and nothng happened, then all of a sudden there must have been 20 cop cars ramming the fences all around me. One of them actually made it over the fence, but I accidentally blew it up. The only way I could even get hit is from the helicopter above me. Then it started to glitch a little and all the cops put their guns (and arms) through the walls, but didn't fire. I keep lighting them all on fire with my blowtorch.

Get out of the car and throw a grenade or cocktail at them, once they are all gone you are in 1st place. Make your way over the road block you made and steal a car and complete the race at your leasure. ;) it's not "cheating", it's just ingenuity.

Todd

Where did you set your road block. I tried this, but when we got there - all the cars I had set up were gone

Yes, I tried to do that with the Fire Engine but when I got back it was gone. I won it with a Mafia Sentinel and did the trick where you "tap" one of the cars while blowing by them at full speed to get a head start.

Yeah I couldn't get that to work either. Plus when I got out of the fire engine, the triads kicked my butt bad. I won't tell you how I won it because no one will respect me anymore.

I did the same with the Hummer. It surprisingly went well - it handles better than the sports cars, it's top speed is not bad (horrible acceleration, but with the head start, this is not a problem), and it can take a hit and remain steady - any time the other racers got near me, I just swerved into them and they went tumbling off to the side. After the first 4 or 5 checkpoints, I never saw any of the other racers again.

This is just off the top of my head, but look for a configuration of buildings kinda like this. The building with the asterisks is the garage.

Thanks, but I actually found it about 20 minutes after I posted the message. I only have the dodo left to get before I get all the cars, but I don't think I can get it until the 3rd city.

I stacked the cars after the first check point, right before the second one. The cars that i placed didn't dissapear though :-\, I have noticed that sometimes the game is picky on what it wants to leave where you leave it.

Todd

PS. Has anyone seen the Cheetah car? That car is sweet :)

I've noticed the same thing. Just for grins I decided I wanted to create a big traffic jam so I jacked a big tour bus and blocked the road ... then jacked each car that stopped and whacked their drivers. But if I ran more a block away ... then came right back. The cars would vaporize.

Yes, the cheetah is sweet. I got the Rasta's mad at me because I was picking off folks from the parking garage with my sniper rifle. When you shoot the Rasta's in the head this GYSER of blood blasts skyward.

It's even cooler with the code that lets you blow off limbs. :D

I'm on Staunton Island and have a grand total of...10!

This game is ridiculous. I failed a mission and just for kicks, started lobbing grenades into the street. This passenger bus got hit, turned sideways on its two rightmost wheels, and started careening towards me. I just stood there and it missed me by thismuch. Looked like something out of a movie. Then of course, this jogger runs up to me and tries to lay the smack down. Did she not see the grenade in my hand? No matter, she saw the shotgun...:)

Now THAT'S funny!

My only problem with this game is that the constant motion on the screen makes me feel nauseous after about 30 minutes. The original Twisted Metal used to do the same to me. Does getting sick while playing an ultra-violent game bring my manhood into question?

I'm on Staunton Island and I have 57 or 58. I've pretty much maxed out what I'm going to be able to find w/o a guide, though.

if you get motion sickness in the game, try this... go into the display options and turn trails OFF. Maybe that will help ya a bit :).

Not sure if this works, but just a thought . . . Jack a few cars and park in front of the three cars in the race (right in front of the line up without touching them). When jacking cars, don't go too far ahead because the cars will disappear when you come back to the race area. Park them sideways in front of the line-up. Jack an other car and park in the "blue" area. When the clock starts, get ready to race while the line-up runs straight into your blockade.

You're not the only one, Daryl. I am highly susceptible to motion sickness (so much so, that I can WATCH somebody on a merry-go-round and if I'm standing too close, I start to get sick). I got a little sickness with GTA3 at first, but luckily, the more I play something and get used to it, the better I get. I can play it now with pretty much no problems at all.

I did have to sell Twisted Metal: Black because it was just TOO silky-smooth, and I was damn near barfing 15 minutes into every game. Unfortunately, I wasn't getting any better with time, either, so I had to trade it off for something a little more "stable"... :)

Hey, that helped - thanks! I was able to play as long as I wanted to last night (about 90 minutes). I felt it a little, but not nearly as much as before, when I thought I was gonna puke all over!

At least it's not just me! I thought with GTA3, it would get better after a while like Perfect Dark did on the N64, but it had been actually getting worse. I haven't played TM:Black a lot, so I don't know if that will bother me.

Yeah, no problem. I also found out that turning off trails improves the framerate and makes the whole image a lot brighter. There are way too many good games coming out for the ps2 right now. I haven't touched DMC or NHL 2002 yet, and I am going to get a shipment of MGS2, Crash Bandicoot, and Tony Hawk 3 from Amazon. In addition, I preordered 007 at Electronics Boutique. Now that I am broke, I have to spend all my time working and going to school, and I will rarely be able to play and games until I get some money in. Oh well, at least I'll have GTA3 to look forward to...

There's an easier way to kill Salvatore without having to block his garage with other cars.

All you have to do is pick up a sniper rifle, park down the street from Luigi's club, where the road goes downhill. Get out of the car, Zoom in with the rifle, and start walking uphill on the sidewalk towards the club until the rest of the street comes into view. You'll see all the mafia guys standing around outside the club. Just wait until Salvatore comes out of the alley and you can pop him before he even gets in the limo. The mafia never spots you... mission complete.

Pump Up the Gore
To increase the level of sticky, icky gore, enter the following code during gameplay: SQUARE, L1, CIRCLE, DOWN, L1, R1, TRIANGLE, RIGHT, L1, X.

Is this code right? I can't get it to work.

Yeah, it's right. The game just doesn't notify you that it works.

Yep, that's what I did. Took me a few tries, b/c the mafiosos spotted me, but I eventually pulled it off. Didn't even take any return fire. :)

Or you can find a great sniper's nest atop the building across the street (access via the alley).

I'm afraid to try any other codes after I turned on the riot. Having to start all over again was suckekekeke.

Is there a way to turn the riot off once it's on? Or are you just stuck once you punch in the code?
