I went to Target today. There was only one dreamcast left, but it was still priced at $55. I bought it and hold the receipt for next few weeks and see if the price drops.

If Target is out of the consoles in your area, I just found a Best Buy where the guy agreed to give me the price match even though Target didn't have any in stock... it's not going to happen everywhere, and this should be kept low profile, but if you talk to the right guy in the Video Games dept. and you're cool with him, he might like you enough to go ahead and do that. All they have to do is call Target to verify that they had that price advertised. :)

So has anyone else have been able to get DC for $40? If so where? $55 is a good price (which I live at - Nothern Virginia), but $40 is even better. Oh...I just order a brand new Soul Calibur for $15. I probably will get Resident Evil Code Name Veronica too, it's only half as expensive the PS2 version. Keep the deals coming!

[personal-private-nobody else can see]:sigh: Desiree... I got your message and we can talk whenever you get back in town. Just let me know when that will be, but let's stick to the plan and not talk till then. I'm not even sure I want to know where you're going out of town to or why. I still love you... don't make ^this^ a habit though. :)[/personal-private-nobody else can see]

I did buy a Dreamcast though and the morons at Target told the Best Buy people that it was 55 bucks at clearance... still cheap, so I snapped one up. I also bought 13 games from BB and Circuit City. I plan to start picking up used ones after the Christmas season when everyone is replacing their Dreamcast stuff with Xbox or Gamecube stuff. Anyway - you might get lucky enough to get a cool Best Buy guy to do the same price match for you - the Best Buys around here have tons of them and I'm sure they want to get rid of them.

This place is having a huge clearance on Dreamcast (Playstation and N64 games as well) games and lots of stuff is super cheap - I don't know how their shipping prices go, but it's in Canada and I'm pretty sure they ship to the US.

Hey all,

I just posted this in the Other Bargains Thread...but I thought I'd mention it here too. I don't know if this affects the local Sears near you, but the store near me is having a Super Saturday Sale. They are selling NEW Dreamcasts for $30 and all DC games and accessories are 75% off ticketed prices. Hope this helps a few holiday shoppers here!

BTW, the sale begins and ends today!
I'm sorry I couldn't post this sooner.

I went to Target today, I scaned my dreamcast box (copy) on the scanner, it rang up $19.94. Talked to manager about that because I got it only 2 weeks ago. She gave me a run around saying..."um...well you bought it when it wasn't on clearance and now it's on clearance so we can't give you the difference."

So I asked her about then returning it and buying it back. She says well...you can't do that because the computer will recognize you returning and buying. I said screw it.

But it appears to be a great deal if you can find one at Target or get a price match.

Amazon also has CT and CT2 at that reduced price and they also lowered the price on the console to 49.99. Anyone know if they will refund the difference if you purchased one in the last two weeks?

for anyone who is interested, i just went by CC with the intention of buying the DC with the 3 sports games to price match on friday and save the hassle. lo and behold when the guy rang it up it was already marked at 69.99 even though it was marked on the shelf at 99.99. he said oh well and gave it to me and so i happily walked out of the store.

A few questions...to anyone that can answer them really but since you actually did this kevin:

What are the three sports games?

Are they returnable/exchangeable?

Is CC selling the DC w/o the sports package for 50 dollars? (I want to pick one up for myself and one as a gift for my sister, but she won't be into those games.)

Seems SEGA has officially lowered the prices on the Dreamcast consoles/packs CNET article (http://news.cnet.com/news/0-1006-200-7942012.html).

I've also heard people walking into ToysRUs since yesterday and picking up the console for $49.99 and the Sports Pack for $69.99 (new price not marked on the shelf or advertised but rings up as such). Picking one up today!

Edit: Just picked one up (mfg July 2000). Anyone interested in picking one up really should try to get them today so you avoid the Black Friday rush and get them before they may run out since its being advertised...

1. NFL 2001, NBA 2001 and World Series 2001
2. No, the games are pre-packaged in the box so you can't trade it for something else.
3. Go to a ToysRUs store. I imagine it should be $49.99 if CC has it. If you get it on Friday at BestBuy, you get a free game though (Sega GT). Many stores should reflect the new lower price of $49.99.

Thanks for the info. I went to Toys R Us and they rang up w/ Friday's prices. I got one regular DC and a sports package. I'm not into the sports majorly but for 20 more bucks, three games, its such a deal and my roomates at school will dig this. I don't plan on getting an Xbox or GC at least for a while, but I feel like I just bought a system that launched...except there are hundreds off great titles and they are dirt cheap! Awesome!

If your store won't do it then I would return it and buy another. How is the computer going to know you're buying another if you pay cash? :)

I tried to return, now they say it's opened, so no return can be accepted. And I don't think I can get any difference from Target now the Dreamcast price has been lowered. Well...I learned. I will never shop from Target again.

Thread has been updated.

In instances of Sears, Target, CompUSA, and others that are clearancing out games...I will note that you should check your local store for availability. And I know, that many stores are doing this, but if you visit a CompUSA or Target or Sears you have to admit that the pickins are very slim.

I don't mean to sound ungreatful, but PLEASE delete your posts. I will create a new thread if we can't keep this confined to one page....and yes I know that the first post is very long and takes up a siginificant amount of the first page.

Thank you for your understanding and support!!

Well I went on an uninformed spree, and bought:

Unreal Tournament
Test Drive 6
Sega GT
Slave Zero
Midways Greatest Hits, 2

All were 9.99 ea. at Best Buy, albeit 2 different ones.

And in my opinion....they all SUCK! Oh my gosh!

ONLY Midways GH 2 has any value. And thats just because of Gaunlet.

I think I was mesmerized by Jet Grind Radio and Crazy Taxi, so I just melded the graphics in those games with the titles of the above games. Well, brotha, that don't work. Slave Zero is the biggest bust! I would have expected better (and have seen better) on the dang PsOne for goodness sakes.

Be careful with what you buy!!

I bought Test drive and was pretty disappointed...but I like Sega GT. Just wish I had a steerring wheel. I also got the sega smashpack--the wifey loves that. Columns, Swirls(?) and Sonic.

I've got Crazy Taxi, Blitz (loved it at the arcade), and NFL2k1 coming. 2k1 is my only worry...

Sears in Fairfax, VA (Fair Oaks Mall) had a table "clearance" table of DC consoles ($49) and DC games (Most were $19 tho), jump packs ($19). I picked up Ecco, WWF Attitude, Ready 2 Rumble 2.

Best Buy in Springfield Mall. VA has tons of the Midway GH2.

All of the previous posts have been updated.

Just a few notes.....

As you all know, the selection of games at your local discounts stores are growing smaller and smaller as the days go on. Target and Sears in particular are a crap-shoot at this point. Sears is blowing out their inventory and so is Target and they will not be adding any new titles or ordering existing titles. The same goes for Walmart and other discount stores. This doesn't mean there aren't any deals out there, but they will most likely be in the electronic stores like Best Buy, Circuit City, and Electronics Boutique. Not to mention the online stores too. My only concern is not to get into a constant hassle of adding and deleting titles and changing prices all the time because one person finds shenmue at their target for $19 and another finds it for $9. This sames me alot of time.

Also, thanks to those who are deleting their posts to keep the thread short. I will most likely be creating a new thread if this one spills over to a 3rd page. I like to keep things trim, and I also acknowledge that the first post is quite long and takes up a good chunk of the first page. I think I've typed enough....Until next time.

BestBuy had the following for 9.99 today (12/90

4X4 Thunder
Test Drive V-Rally
Test Drive Le Mans
Nfl2k
Unreal Tournament
Virtua Tennis
Toy Commander
Metropolis Street Racer
Sega GT
Sega Smash Pack
Demolition Racer

Those were the ones I could find. I picked up 4X4 Thunder and Test Drive V-Rally and they both are very cool. I like test drive better though.

Anyone know where I might be able to pick up an S-video cable for cheap? None to be had at my local Walmart, Costco, or Best Buy.

An online store would be fine, too. Seems that they go for $6 to $6.50 including shipping on ebay, so I'm just trying to beat that.

Thanks.

I went to pick up a dreamcast tonight and ran smack into a brick wall. I can't find any. Anywhere. I pretty much told my little brother I was going to get him one and now they appear to have vanished. I would appreciate all the help you guys can muster. Thanks.

Thanks for the list....but there was some things that I found to be outdated.
Amazon will not allow you to order the official Dreamcast Fishing Controller.
The Dreamcast fishing controller listed for EBgames is no longer backordered.
Crazy Taxi is only 9.99 at KB instead of the 17.99 listed.
Crazy Taxi 2 is only 9.99 as well. (Not listed, but a good deal nonetheless)

Keep up the good work.

WildCatKid - keep checking. Some will show up locally.

My local Game Stop had a 'Nyko' (I believe) S-Video cable for $2.99. I was very surprised. But I had to take the first one back, the right audio was bad. I got another one, and it's fine. Maybe they have them for that price on the web as well.

Otherwise, I was going to buy a $19.99 one from Best Buy. It had the 'AV Multi-Out' for a PS2, N64, and Dreamcast on one unit, all funneled into a single cable. It was neat, but I took it back once I got a working $2.99 one.

Good Luck!

Kingstowne Walmart in Alexandria, VA has several copies of Qbert for $9.99.

The Best Buy in Springfield Mall, VA has several copies of Toy Commander, Championship Surfer, Razor Scooter, Test Drive V Rally and demolition racer for $9.99. Tons of Virtua Tennis copies too.

The Funcoland in Springfield Mall was :thmbsdwn: Saw Soul Calibur for $32.99. It also has a decent used selection but their prices are steep for most stuff $14.99 and up for used! They had used DC keyboards $7, fishing controller $19, refurb/used DC console $49 and new DC console for $59. Didn't see any MC driving gear. They also had Nyko RF, video cables for $2.99

Sorry spankyj...you are of course correct. To me it looked like a typo. I should have checked before saying anything.

Best Buy had Test Drive 6 and Test Drive La Mans for only $9.99 each when I was there yesterday. Be careful though as IGN rates TD 6 as a 3.4 but TD La Mans they give a 9.4 and if they have TD V that would be a good deal rated at 9.

Anyone know where to get that stupid Midway Arcade Classics 2 with Spy Hunter and such on it? They had like 30 of them at Best Buy a month or so ago - so I blew off buying one - then the next week they were all gone! And there isn't even a space for them now. Were they banned? ;)

Naitram -

Keep checking back at your local Best Buy. They were at mine about a month ago too, I thought about it but decided not to buy. Then by the time I wanted it, all signs of the game and the game were gone! However, I went in to my local BB this week, and their shelves were stocked full of games for the Dreamcast, Midway's #2 included. I didn't pick one up(they had like 10 copies), but I think that I will get one today. :)

Moral of the story - keep checking, it will show up more than likely. You could also try a used video game store in your area. I don't imagine this is a game that everyone keeps for a long time, so I'm sure you might be able to get a used copy even cheaper. Enjoy!

Yeah concerning the Best Buy 'magic restocking'.

Every thursday I go to some Best Buys around me and see one or two titles that just explode in numbers. Like 20 to 30. Last week it was JoJo's Bizzare Adventure and 4X4 Wheeler (or something like that).

I wonder what it will be tomorrow!! :)

Soul Fighter
Zombie's Revenge
Typing of the Dead

Pato1...You might want to check out your local Bestbuy. Apparently, some of the 2kwhatevers are going on sale. I returned my NFL2k1 that was bought 2 weeks ago to pricematch the present CC sale of it for only 6.99. When the cust. rep was ringing it all, it showed the regular price of NFL 2k1 as 9.99. The sign in the store still shows 19.99. So, I picked up a copy of NCAA2k2 and asked for a price check. The rack showed it as 39.99, but it rang up at 19.99. At that price, a real steal for me! Online it has the 2k1's at 9.99 also, so that is the everywhere price. NCAA isn't available online, so you'll have to go to the store. I forgot to check the other 2k2's(too many people) at the store, the website only lists MLB2k2 as reduced(to 19.99) .

Hope these deals help. Very solid price on the NCAA imho, will try and get a store price on the tennis 2k2. Happy hunting!

I received my JCPenny.com order for DC NFL 2k2 & controller. No shipping charges appeared on the shipping invoice despite the ambiguous confirmation email that mentioned DC games/accessories did not qualify for the special promo codes. So the codes do work for the DC games.

Picked up two 6-button Dreamcast controllers with built-in rumble for $9.99 each at Software, Etc. They're made by Innovation, and they're not licensed by Sega or carry any official seal of approval. They do work though, so they make good 3rd and 4th controllers for games like Virtua Tennis. They have a switch to turn the rumble on and off, and another switch to go from 4-button control to 6. I apologize for the lack of updating. I have been in Canada since just before Christmas and I will not had the opportunity to update until Saturday.

HERE IS MY DILEMMA:

Regarding things being out of date.....

We are getting to a point where pickings at many store are slim to none. Target has pretty much gotten rid of all their Dreamcast merchandise. The only stores with consistent availibility are either online or at stores similar to Electronics Boutique.

I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!

I need to know what stores to eliminate from the list. I also need to know what titles are no longer available at most stores (both online and B&M).

I will update the above posts in a this thread. And most likely on Sunday you will see a new Dreamcast deals posting. Again, I apologize for my absence. I look forward to your input!!

Ab Zero this thread has served well but like has been stated the pickings are getting slimmer out there.
I think rather than try to list games at specific prices the thread should just be started anew with suggestions for where to shop and then obviously the deals that we post
Basically your work is done. Thanks I have scored some reat deals on here.

Places I look for DC now
Online
CDuniverse
EBworld
buy.com
amazon
gameplay.co.uk
half.com

Thanks Apocrypha. I appreciate your input. My biggest dilemma is figuring out how to make the thread as useful and user friendly as possible. Besides EB and Gamestop B&Ms, I find online stores having the best opportunity for good deals on games. I feel bad that I don't have a better solution, but I don't know what else to do.

Again, if any of you have suggestions please pass them my way via this thread or by email. Thanks again for all of your support!

No thank you! Youve done a great job with this thread and passed on some great deals. Slim pickings or not Ive gotten plenty out of your threads. I think we all know this wont be updated like it was in its heyday but you shouldnt be hearing any complaints.

EBgames and KBkids are the only sites that have decent prices on new games (with the games in stock) anymore online. I've found some decent deals in person at Electronics Boutique and Toys 'R' Us.

Of course, there's always eBay and Half.com.

I wanted to thank Absolute Zero and many others who have helped compile this thread. I was given a DC a week ago and am now enjoying it once again. I originally had one on the launch day 9-9-99 and really missewd it once I gave it up. With so many quality games under $ 10 I'll be playing DC games for quite a while. Plus I won't have a heart attack when my 2 year old son wants to "play" with it. He's the main reason I didn't buy a x box ;) Thanks to all :)

Wow.

I just got a partial cancellation notice for the order I made at kbtoys the other day. They cancelled the vmu and controller, and are sending me the game I ordered. How nice of them. -rolleyes-

So, I ordered the following for $15:
* a game
* a memory card
* a controller

I just got off the phone with their CS. They were "nice" enough to credit me back shipping on my order. They also sent a $5 coupon along with the partial cancellation e-mail.

So, I'm getting the following for $10
* a game

MSR (Metropolis Street Racer) - 6.99 @ bestbuy.com

A word of caution. Last time I ordered games from BB.com, they shipped them in some sorry bubble wrap and one of the jewel cases was busted -eek- The disc was OK, but one of the cases was smashed pretty good...that being said I placed my order for MSR right away :)

Enjoy :)

Not really a bargain but I was interested in the Gameshark Lite for Dreamcast ... is it any good, what exactly is it (a disc with codes or what?) I had one of the code things that plugged into the I/O port on the original PlayStation is it like that? Game Shark Lite says same as a Gameshark, but you supply the memory card. What would you consider a good price for a new one, etc ... any info would be helpful. I am mainly interested in it for Resident Evil Code Veronica and some other RPG like games (I hate putting hours and hours into a game, just to realize that I need to replay half of it to have enough ammo to beat a boss ... which is the situation I have now with RE)... anyway, thoughts on how well it works, and what price is a deal, etc... :johnwoo:

I stopped by the local Circuit City to look for GBA games and I thought I hit the DC jackpot. They had a bunch of DC titles (NBA 2k2, NCAA 2k2, NFL2k2,Baseball 2k2 etc) on their clearance table along with N64 stuff. But all of the DC stuff rang up regular price at the register, $29-$39! :hscratch:

I asked the manager if this was a mistake and she said no; those were the discount prices. I guess they're not really trying that hard to get rid of their DC stuff; just clearing shelf space for Xbox et al.

DVDtalkers,

As worthwhile as this thread was months and months ago, I think its time to shut her down. As I look over the list....the majority of titles can't be found at the stores they are listed for. Its pretty evident that if you find a DC game its going to be $20 or less. Being the originator of the post I just think its time to say goodbye and let everyone fend for themselves and be happy with the deals they find. However, the decision is not mine to make....its yours....and the mod...but mostly the mod. Anyway, I've enjoyed being able to bring you Dreamcast deals over the past year and look forward to creating a new thread for those of us who have money to burn. Thank you all for the support and enjoy your Dreamcast.

Well, you did start the thread but I think it won't do any good by shutting it down. I mean,if one of us finds a great deal sometime in the future on DC stuff,we'll want to let others know. Even if someone only posts something in the thread twice a month,it's still worth it to my mind.

Since you were the originator of the post, you can use the "Report this post to a moderator" link and ask for it to be closed if you want. Personally, I would prefer for it to stay open, just maybe unstuck. If a new deal comes along, it would still be open to post in. Those of us who are still interested would see that it's been bumped with a new deal.
