I love games like Crash Bandicoot and shooter games like Tomb Raider etc. I disliked the cartoony games like Rayman etc and I dont like RPG. Other than the new Crash bandicoot game, does anyone have any recommendations for games of this nature for PS2. 1st person shooters/3rd person shooters are fine (although I didnt like the gameplay of Resident Evil).

Well, I wouldn't recommend the new Crash because it's made by a new developer. Get Jak and Daxter instead.

Well, it's a bit difficult when you say you liked Bandicoot but disliked Rayman, given that they're two examples (high-quality examples, at that) of the same genre. Klonoa 2 is a highly rated platformer, if that's what you want. The best Resident-evil style game currently is Devil May Cry, which is getting ridiculously good reviews, and has advanced enough to escape many of the annoyances of the RE series.

Really, when I want a good PS2 game, I just go to the PS2 section at www.gamespot.com and click through the top 10.

Oh, and don't forget the ridiculously good Toys-R-Us / Amazon.com deal for PS2 games right now. Which might mean you'll need to find more than one good game to play. :D

I noticed the new developer on the crash game. I hope it turns out well. Thanks for the recommendations. I will check out Devil May cry. The reason I posted the thread was because of the deal. :)

The EGM reviewers gave the new Crash game scores of 5.0,4.5 and 4.0 on a scale of 1-10. Not too good.

Like someone else said - if you liked the Crash series, you'll love Jak and Daxter.

I had a chance to play it at E3 and man, it was looking great even at that early stage. It has the same elements that made the Crash series great, with more. It's expected to hit the first week of December, which isn't too far off.

Also, you should look into ICO! You may be pleasantly suprised :)

I second ICO, but better rent it since a lot of people are becomming disappointed by its relative shortness. I personally wouldn't want to be without it in my collection, it's a truly landmark sleeper hit in my opinion.
