A few weeks ago I placed an order for three DVD (all with different release dates) at CDNow. I was surprised to find that they shipped the first title separately for no extra cost. Now I looked at my order status and found that they were going to ship the next two titles together.

I sent them an angry e-mail about this. The reason is that I need to buy a gift certificate in advance if two or more discs are shipped together (to avoid Finnish customs). This kind of inconsistency is very irresponsible on CDNow's part.

Has anybody had similar experiences with them?

I think they used to ship them seperately, but now they'll ship your first pre-order, then shipping the second and third together seems to be standard practise for them. Apart from this I think they give quite good service overall.

The only advice I can give is to buy in quantities of 2 from now on.

Thanks. I guess I'll just order a GC right now.

The thing is, shipping costs for two single-disc DVDs are the same ($ 7.20) as for three single-disc DVDs, so that's why I opted for three pre-orders.
