Crying Freeman on eBay. Anyone familiar with this version?

http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1466789841

Is it full frame from the Super35 frame (extra info top & bottom) or cropped from a theatrical print? Quality? Reviews anywhere?

Most importantly, ARTIFACTS are easily seen on a large TV like mine, so is this one of this pathetic looking DVDs?

It's a cropped full-screen version. Not bad quality, but not worth it if you want to really enjoy the film. Widescreen is the only way to go!

Cropped full screen or cropped PAN & SCAN? This was shot in Super35 and the full screen version SHOULD have additional info on the top and bottom. UNLESS it was transferred from an anamorphic print, in which case it will be cropped & panned & scanned.

So which is it?

I'd prefer widescreen, but there is no other NTSC version that I know of.

Pan & Scan (if memory serves me). If you can't get any of the widescreen versions available, you could do worse than this one. I believe it's from Taiwan. There was also a Brazilian version, but it's out of print now.

OK thanks. I hate pan & scan. Refuse to buy them.

Don't bother with this one - get the French 2 disc limited edition (if you can) a lovely set - 90% of the extras are in English...

PAL speedup bothers me too much on English language films. It would drive me especially nuts when listening to Yoko Shimada, who I will be working with next year. I know exactly how she sounds and sped up, her seductive tone would turn into helium (a slight exaggeration, but you get my point).

Foreign language PAL transfers don't bug me for some reason. Thank God! Otherwise I would not be able to enjoy those HKL releases.

This speedup on PAL also drives me nuts. I would not want anything to interfere with Shimda-san's voice. Nothing beats a woman with an attractive voice and her's is the best. I could listen to it all day. It seem the older she gets, the better her voice gets...her looks too. I actually wore out a VHS copy of The Hunted(I have the DVD now). I found it to be serious crime that she didn't get better billing for this movie-she WAS the movie. She is a seriously unappreciated actress in this country and it's a crying shame.

You are one seriously lucky guy getting to work with her. You don't need an assistant do you?

LOL. Yeah, I am lucky. She is one grand woman and has a voice that turns me to butter. At 49, she is still a knockout. Hands down one of the most beautiful women in the world. She doesn't age like normal people.

I just hope the deal holds it together. Things are rough in the Entertainment biz since the disaster of two weeks ago and anything can happen. Half our budget is guarenteed, but the other half is iffy. Fingers crossed.

Anybody know where to find any of Yoko Shimada's Japanese dramas or films? Not Shogun. But the other stuff. And, any links to shashinshu would be great too .
