Enable Archives feature?
Geoff:
In light of the recent outpouring of heartfelt and fantastic posts which have sprung up in reaction to the WTC tragedy, I was wondering if the Archives feature could be activated?
It would be a shame to lose threads such as the one below, which capture live a rallying of emotion of which we are not likely to see again, to server oblivion.
For posterity, let us never forget this horrific, but important, event.

While obviously not as powerful as the WTC incident threads, I would like to request that these two threads be archived:
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...threadid=73100
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...threadid=75901
It took a lot of time to tally and monitor, plus it provides an awesome representation of what the world's greatest DVD forum considers to be the world's greatest DVDs. I personally find the results interesting and I would hate to have all that work just go away. Please archive them. Thanks.

I haven't read these threads. Have they reached a final point, or aren't they going to be constantly in flux?
If so, then they don't seem like good candidates for the archive forum as they won't be changeable once they go there.
If we weren't so tight on sticky space, I would recommend that, but this seems more like something that should be resurrected every few weeks or months for new members or changed opinions.

Sorry I haven't replied sooner.
Those two threads are both finished. We did the poll midway last year and then again after all the big releases came up 4Q. It's not something that people change or anything. Those threads are done (they were time-sensitive) and should be closed and moved to the archives. The only new posts that would be made would be in a new thread if we were to do a third edition of the Best DVDs Census. But that won't likely be until some of these huge October releases occur.
Please close them and move them to the archive. They are not to be changed from this point forward anyhow.
Thanks.

I'd like to let the WTC stuff stand alone for a little while longer.
We'll do a call for threads that should be archived in a little while and I'll be sure to include the above. Perhaps a little later next week.
Thank you for your patience.
