I liked it, but I'd wait for the special edition if you like extras. The tranfers seems really nice to me, and they did a good job with the sound. But I would really advice renting it this tuesday, if you want to watch it and waiting for the special edition to buy.

DVD Talk Limited Edition
The wife and kids(and so did I) wanted me to buy Spy Kids last Tuesday, so I went and picked it up for $20.
Truly one of the best "new" family movies that has come out in a long time.
"Being a Spy is easy, keeping a family together that is hard. But, that is a battle worth fighting for." Never has there been a better family statement in movie history. I cheer every time I hear that line at the end of the movie.
I was impressed how the kids acted throughout the movie. The girl played her part perfectly!!!
How is the DVD:
1. The DVD picture was great.
-I did not see any edge enhancements(but, I was not looking for it either)
2. Sound was very good. I only have a small stereo connected to my DVD, so I am not the best to tell you about surround sound.
3. Main menu looked cool, like some kind of spy gadget.
4. No real extras, only movie trailers for some family TV movies.
I did not regret buying the DVD, everyone in the family has watched it 3 times already.
I can't wait for "Spy Kids II"!!!!

DVD Talk Legend
I was going to wait for the SE but as usual I weakened and bought the recent version. Very happy with the movie, has the anamorphic widescreen and 5.1 which are two requirements. I'll wait and see what the SE is like before I consider an upgrade.
