Are the Japanese sub-titles burned in ala Stars Wars Phantom Menace?What about the up coming R2 Ally McBeal?

Ally Mcbeal is up for sale next mont in a boxed set.The whole season 1 in 2 box
But wish I could afford the price tag

I remember asking the ER subtitle question to a CR rep at cdjapan. He assured me that
the subtitles are removable and the original audio track is available.

You can't compare a DVD release with LD (Phantom Menace), LD doesn't have a removeable subtitle option. I owned Friends Season 1 and 2 (R2 Japan). Subtitles are removeable. I will be buying Ally McBeal when it's release next week.

There are plenty of R2(France)DVD's that have the French sub-titles burned in including Heavenly Creatures.
