Off-topic movie bashing making a resurgence

There have been many instances in the past few weeks were members bash movies in threads that are not discussing the merits of the movie. By this I mean some one says something like "Who cares, X movie was crap" in a thread asking about a release date or any other topic that has nothing to do with members opinions of the particular movie. These comments often turn the whole thread into a "this movie sucks"/"no it doesn't" argument and as a result the original intention of thread is forgotten. There was a lengthy thread on this here last year were many members, some mods, and even Geoff agreed this was a problem. For awhile members were warned when they blatantly bashed movies in threads not discussing the movies and some replies were even deleted. I would simply like to see this occuring again. Warn people that bash movies in unappropriate threads, delete rude, off-topic replies, and suspend/ban repeat offenders.

I agree. This is something that has to be nipped in the bud before it gets out of control and leaves a lot of ill will. Some people are so passionate either for or against a particular movie or genre that things can flame up pretty quickly.

(P.S. This wouldn't be a problem if people quit liking movies that sucked. )

It is one of my pet peeves. People need to check their feelings at the door unless they are asked to comment on their view of the movie.

Thank for bringing this up Josh.

Josh,

As you know, when I was a Mod in the Main Forum, this was one of my beef's. My viewpoint, if your going to complain about a movie/DVD, give your reasons (Don't just say the movie sucks).

Saying "X" movie/DVD sucks is the same as:

Nice Bargain

I agree with this reasoning as well as that these coments aren't appropriate in the first place.

Here, here. I agree that sort of trolling should be strongly discouraged.
