Region 2: Stargate Director's Cut with DTS with anamorphic enhancement.

Sucks. Well, at least for us Region 1 owners.

And get this, the disc comes in a Pyramid shaped like packaging.

124 minutes; 2:35.1 with DTS/DD sound.

Features will include audio commentary by Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin, trailer, promo reel and photo gallery.

Enjoy folks.

Release date: This month

Well the only difference between that and our R1 special edition is that pyramid packaging and addition of a DTS track. We got the commentary, the director's cut with 9 additional minutes, as well as theatrical included on the same disc, and DD sound. So it's not really worth upgrading... well, not for me anyway, but fanatics will surely get it, as I am grabbing any release of Pulp Fiction and Fifth Element, etc, so I understand

Chad, but why? I mean if the image is presentable and equal to the one you have, why? Just for a few more extras? I mean I just can't see myself doing this 4 times!!!

A new German version was released yesterday, according to amazon.de it features an anamorphic transfer and english DTS 5.1 sound. Although it seems to come in just a regular package. Hope that helps.

The director's cut is 9 extra minutes of quality footage. Besides, my family loves this movie so while it sucks upgrading yet again I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end... at least until an HD-DVD version comes out.

If it's incorportated into the film itself, then damn, worth the re-purchase for me.

Yep, the extra 9 minutes are in the film itself and not as a separate feature. I wish many other DVDs would at least have an option in place the deleted scenes back into the film. That'd be killer!!!

Just wanted to tell you that the picture quality of the added scenes is pretty bad according to German reviews. And what is so awesome about the fact that these scenes are added back into the movie ? It would have been MUCH better if they were incorporated with seamless branching like on the US DVD. A choice is always better isn`t it !?

why would the quality of the additional scenes be poor? they are no different from the rest of the film on the R1 SE dvd...

Good point. And I was wondering when you're going to join this conversation. I know you're a big Stargate fan like I am.

Hey, I just stated what I had read. And the US DVD has poor quality, so people should know that when they buy this new version that the quality of the new scenes differ from the rest of the movie. To me that is a piece of important information, don`t you agree ?

I don`t agree with those reviews! I have watched the Stargate DVD yesterday and it comes with great Sound and also with great Video. It maybe isn`t the best Video ever but i couldn`t see any faults here. A Great Disc which delivers great Sound and Video!

Can anyone confirm that you can watch this with English audio and without any subtitles?

Some German discs force German subtitles on you when you select English audio.

Except for the package, it's the same Disc as the UK will get.
So no subtitles.

It's not just 9 additional minutes. Entire sequences are edited differently and the theatrical cut actually puts some scenes out of order. The SE corrects that and the film is better because of it.l
