Review Wanted: Sorcerer (1977)

I've seen the film. I'm just looking for a review of the DVD and transfer, Also, Amazon has the DVD listed as full frame. Is this true, and what was the film's original aspect ratio?

I know that it is a remake of a first-rate French movie (Diabolique, right? ). I would, however, debate whether or not it is mediocre. "Wages Of Fear" is, of course, a superior film in every way. Still, I feel that "Sorcerer" is quite entertaining. You just have to be able to watch it without trying to compare it to the original. (Not an easy task.) I saw it a few months ago on the recommendation of a friend...a friend who had not seen "Wages Of Fear". I was fully expecting to hate it, but was quite surprised. Even though it's lacking a lot of what makes the original so spectacular, I did find it enjoyable.

Of course I now that I'm in the minority here. The intent of this thread was not to compare the two films, but to get a DVD review of an underrated film that has developed a sizeable cult status.

I think all you've done is angered an angry hornet's nest of Clouzot fans.
