Listen up...
Listen up, after this pile of utter crap, its a damn good thing
that David Boreanaz (WB's "Angel") has a good day job.
A total disappointment on every level. Predictable, unscary
and poorly conceived.
What a waste of "Roswell's" Katherine Heigl.
Do your heart a favor and skip "Valentine."

It's a waste of a great concept. They spare way too much gore. The drill attack on Denise Richards COULD have gone down in history.

Noel: The original cut for Valentine had much more gore, but even though it made it past the MPAA with an R, Warner took the already-R rated movie and cut it down even further. Some of the kills (the ax in the back, particularly) are so awkwardly edited that it feels like I'm watching a Friday the 13th movie on USA or something. Absolutely no gore and precious little blood was left in. Blanks says in the commentary that the drill scene originally went on for several more minutes but was cut to 40 seconds or so.

I spent good money on this flick looking for a good slasher film, instead it was a chopped up mess. I like the director commentary and I hope this guy gets a chance to make the horror film he wants to, instead of getting chopped up by the studio!
Save yer money ace! It's one to wait on HBO for!

Yeah, I've seen interviews that go each way. In some of the earlier ones, he seemed pretty disappointed, but in others, he mentions that cuts very matter-of-factly and doesn't seem to care at all. On the commentary, Blanks didn't seem indignant or anything, even mentioning at the end how great it was to work with a major studio and how he hopes to have a similar opportunity soon.

I found the story I only half-remembered ... "The Cutting Room: Valentine" on Page 12 of Fangoria #204 (July). Here's what he actually said, "The MPAA did approve of my original cut with an R rating. It was the studio that decided to make further cuts afterward. I think what happened is the administration was responsible for The Matrix, which took the lion's-share brunt of the Columbine thing, and they didn't want to repeat it. ... [My cut] was a little more horrific. I'm not going to make any grand claims that it changed my movie, but some of the sequences were so much stronger before."

bad movie - bad acting - bad bad bad. Avoid. Not interesting. No plot development or character development. No caring who dies or lives. Stupid. There are better slasher flicks out there - this one is totally a rental if that. Don't buy.

Disagree
I think this movie was great. For $11.99 I cannot complain. I thought the movie was filled with some pretty intense scenes. I think that people nowadays are to anlytical about movies. Not every movie put out is going to be a masterpiece. Some movies are just fun. Valentine was fun for me and I have watched it twice already.

What a waste of time. The ending is HORRIBLE and is so typical for horror flics.
Denise was the only part of the movie worth watching but even she isn't worth the price of the DVD.
Totally disapointed in it. The picture and sound were decent enough but the acting, story and ENDING were horrible.

I watched this last night...(not the commentary though ctyner )....
I thought it was okay....of course, I didn't go in with any expectations after reading everybody's comments here...
It wasn't very scary, or intense...it was just good eye candy.
It would have been much better if Marley Shelton, Denise Richards, and Katherine Heigl were nude, though.

I've been watching this on DirecTV this month, and I love to watch it. I'm not really sure why...I just like having it on the TV as often as possible. It must have something to do with the hotties in it.
I will be picking this up if I can find it really cheap, or will pick it up as a fulfillment title for CH.
