Does anyone know anything about the quality of the Cyclo disc that's being sold at DDDhouse? I'd like to know if it is worth it.

don't know anything about the quality but I believe that it is one of the few HK DVDs that is anamorphic.

This is the best quality HK disc I've seen. I realize that isn't necessarily saying a lot given the middling quality of most HK releases, but the transfer is absolutely first-rate. Anamorphic, excellent contrast, a blemish-free print; it rivals the quality of any Region-1 "A" title.

The subtitles were also surprisingly well done. It seems to have been translated by someone who has more than a passing understanding of English, and therefore lacks the mangled syntax that is commonplace with HK subs.

And the film itself is amazing, easily one of my favorites of the last decade. It's one of those movies that stays with you long after seeing it. You just can't get it out of your head.

...I have the Region 2/PAL two-disc French release:

http://www.dvdfr.com/dvd/fiche.php3?id=1074

...where you get the same director's Scent Of Green Papayas as well as two short films into the bargain - with optional English (and French, German & Dutch) subtitles... lovely!

. . . . . .

This may be a stoopid question, but how do you actually buy stuff from this site ? My French isn't too hot and I can't see a shopping cart anywhere. The Cyclo DVD looks nice tho.

The DVD is listed under their "Chinese HK" category at $HK 78 (~$US 10).
