King of Comedy - question...

Watched this tonight. It's a pretty good movie. I laughed... I cried... Anyway - I have a question. There's a scene in which Steven Chow is poking a little boy's penis with a stick and then he flicks it with his finger... the boy is naked throughout the film and appears quite a few times. Do you think Steven Chow would be locked up in jail right now for child molestation if this had been done in the US? I mean - I suppose such a thing is just harmless, but I know when the scene came up my girlfriend was pretty shocked and I felt a bit uncomfortable about it as well. We both were laughing pretty hard about it, but it still was kinda crazy. I'm starting to notice quite a bit of penis humor in these films. Are they obsessed with penis? What was your take on the scene? Maybe we're too uptight here in the states... I kinda feel wierd about posting this like I'm afraid I'm going to be labeled a child pornography lover just for admitting that I noticed the kid's penis getting poked and flicked. I'm a product of my environment I guess.

...ahh... poking a little boy's penis with a stick and then flicking it with a finger is the absolute zenith of humor! Afraid I don't see what the problem is - I really don't...

I believe I addressed how funny I thought it was... however, it was mainly a question of sociology. This is something never seen in US films. I wouldn't think anyone here would have a problem with that scene, I was just wondering how people here would think this scene would go over in the US. This just seems like the sort of thing NAMBLA people lobby for. Am I not being clear? ugh...

Child nudity and the sort has been a somewhat common staple in HK comedies. Many an unfortunate male child actor has unwittingly had their private bits exposed from Kowloon to Mongkok. Myself? I find it a little tasteless, but that is just a particular cultural view. I don't think it would go over as well here in North America especially as these HK films would not slide into the arthouse category, but the US has featured similiar child nudity in their own films, see Pretty Baby for an example.
