I know the new version of it has yet to bee released, but has anyone seen the Criterion Collection version?

Should I wait for the new widescreen version, or go for the Criterion's?

Both--each features quality extras not found on the other version.

If you are only willing to buy one, you should probably go with the upcoming version, since it will feature a remastered, anamorphic picture.

I'm gonna sell my Criterion version on Ebay and buy the new SE. The Criterion SOTL is really nothing special....

What does the new version have that the criterion is missing?

New Anamorphic Transfer
New 5.1 surround sound
New retrospcetive documentary
Original making-of featurette

What does the Criterion have that this one doesn't?
Audio Commnetary with Anthony Hopkins, Jodie Foster, Jonathan Demme and Ted Talley
Storyboard-to-Film comparison
FBI manual text
"Voices of Serial Killers" text

So, probably the new SE is the one to get; it'll certainly look and sound better, but just like with Spinal Tap, I'm hanging onto my Criterion as well.

I wanted the Criterion Collection mainly because of the "Voices of..." and the FBI-files...

But of course, at the end, it's the film that's essential!

Thanks guys. I have the criterion, and am happy with it. I will however buy this new version at some point, but it will be a while before I can justify spending the extra dough on it.

I'm sure if you think about it long enough, you'll figure it out. Then you'll really

Well, thanks!

The reason why I post such a stupid question is because I DON'T have to think about it.

And if my (ab)use of smilies irritates you:

Ahhhhh....

...ok...

IMNSHO; it seemed like some smart abbreviation for a long, and impossible sentence.

Thank you!

I gave it some thinking, and I found out right after I posted the question.

I'm sorry.
