i own a 32 inch toshiba television. (sorry i don't know the model number. it's a few years old. for some reason, the picture stretches vertically when i watch a dvd. if the movie is letterbox format, it will be displayed as letterbox, however the image is slightly stretched vertically. i'm sure it's just some type of formatting issue on either my tv or dvd player. i own a samsung m101. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your player is probably setup for a 16x9 television. Try changing the TV aspect in the Display Options menu of the Player to 4x3. Either that or if your TV supports an enhanced for 16x9 mode like the Sony Wegas do then turn on that feature.
