I just got my first reciever today and it's a JVC RX-6500VBK. The Problem is that on DVD and TV I think I can't get any DTS sound or DD sound, the only way I get sound is if I put it on analog. It's able to decode DTS and the movie I am watching right now (U-571) has DTS too. Can someone tell me what Im doing wrong?

Well, I don't know about yours, but on my receiver I had to tell it which digital inputs were used for which functions. There's a menu in my setup where I select which of the inputs in the back corresponds to what.
I can get DTS (as well as DD and analog, etc) off of both the DVD and LD players.
So I'd look in your manual for some sort of menu selecting the digital inputs.

There are so many possible things that you could have done wrong.
Are you using a digital connection from the DVD player to the receiver (either digital coaxial or optical [Toslink])?
Is the DVD player outputting the digital bitstream? It may be PCM only.
Is the correct digital input selected on the receiver? Some inputs can be mapped to different digital inputs.
Is the receiver set to decode DD or DTS? It might still be in "stereo" mode.

yeah codter I can like which inputs are used for which functions but I really dont understand it's says like 1). DVD 2).DBS 3). CD . Im using a Digital optical cable and in the back of the reviever there is 3 spots to put on the Digital in there spot to plug the optical cable called Digital 2 (CD) Digital 3 PCM/DOLBy Digital/DTS
then there is a spot below it called Digital Out and it's clled PCM/Dolby Digital/DTS.
